Tool has two great albums (Undertow and Aenima) which both came out in the 90's.
They lost their edge after Aenima and everything since then sounds like an attempt to get on Modern Rock radio.

After 11 pages, I can’t believe no one mentioned Velvet Revolver. Formed in 2002, headed up by frontman Scott Weiland (STP), and supported by Slash, Duff and Matt (GnR). It’s the only legitimate rock and roll I’ve heard in the last 20 years.

Yeah because Rosetta Stoned, The Grudge, Ticks & Leeches, Triad... I could go on, have no edge and sound like an attempt to get on modern rock radio. Nice take.
