Problem with American bands of the era, there weren't as many as Europe.
Europe tended to have influential bands, whereas in America it was more individual artists, like Elvis

Incredibly overrated as a musician and person.

Legendary in personal flaws (he was a voracious drug addict and an a-hole), what we would refer to in sports as "off the field" issues, as well as his undeniable talent and influence.

A musical giant that will certainly be missed. RIP

What got him though?

He always would talk about health issues. Never elaborated. No this is not a vax point that I’m trying to make.

Just always saw him looking spry on YouTube videos “Ask Cros” videos were pretty humorous.

Made him likable later in life. IMHO.

His resume of music he created and those he influenced is undeniable. Unless you just want to shite on him for politics.

81. Decades of abuse killed his liver (replaced by Phil Collins no less). Diabetes. Lots of dope.

Whatever else you think of all of this stuff, that's a good run alongside that whole list of, "What the frick?" stuff he was doing to himself for most of those years.

Neil Young totally hated David's guts. Crosby broke up every band he was ever in. Great talent though.

I think even Crosby himself would have agreed with you. The last thing I saw him say about the guys: "Why aren't you and Neil on speaking terms?" Crosby: "I said bad things about his wife (Darryl Hannah)."

That's as close to an admission as one can get.

crosby on the mid-80's reunion with mcguinn & hillman of the byrds

quote:

And we buried the hatchet a long time ago. He's been my friend for a long time, and so has Roger. And there's a difference in me, too. When we parted company, it was my fault. It wasn't their fault. They threw me out for a reason. I really was being sort of impossible. I wanted to spread my wings. I wanted to be the center of attention. You know, I was jealous of Roger. I was a growing singer-songwriter. I was starting to write really good songs, and I didn't feel that I had the attention and the recognition that I deserved. I was in ego conflict with them. Now I've got nothing to prove. Anybody that doesn't know I can play and sing hasn't been listening. I can now contribute what I was supposed to contribute.
