Beastie Boys
Beatles
Pinback
Public Enemy
Depeche Mode
Husker Du

I could easily substitute Radiohead, Creedence Clearwater and Nirvana in there as well.

Hendrix
Jethro Tull
Bob James
Dire Straits
Allman Brothers
Rush
SRV
Iron Maiden

So many others could be listed, and these aren't necessarily my Top 8 favorites, but you said define my taste using 8. I can't really do it with just 8 because I have a wide ranging collection of albums, and listen to about anything other than rap, opera, and the shite that passes for mainstream "country music" now.

I'll even throw in another 8.

Johnny Cash
Jim Croce
BB King
Trampled by Turtles
Alan Parsons Project
Harry Chapin
Def Leppard
Steely Dan

Ugh thats tough. Can't put both the Beatles and the beach boys or VH and Led Zepplin or the Stones. Or Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. Seger AND Petty? No.

I bumped into a rare CD of theirs back in the day and resold it for decent $.

New Model Army
Opened for them around 1989. Saw a guy with a NMA shirt at the Cure recently at a show outside of Baltimore. We had a great conversation and reminisced about old times. LOVE this song...

That’s just today. Could be as many as 5 changes tomorrow.

Pretty much the only music I won’t listen to is some forms of rap, some of the heavier metal (speed, death, etc), and praise music by white peple.
