Hate he never got the recognition he deserved from the general public. Fellow musicians knew though.

I saw him in '81. I was 18 and had no idea, just there to party. I got an education and a buzz.

24 years ago I called the Rosebud agency to find out how much it would cost for him to play at my wedding reception. Agent told me he could work it in between stops for $3,000.
I didn't have 2 thin nickles to rub together. I still regret that I didn't figure out how to make it work.
