Or organic? Something about them seems off.

They are not authentic. However they have written some fine songs.

Yes, they are manufactured.

Here is an article from Saving Country Music about them and their fake backstory. And another on how the songwriters behind Sam Hunt and Old Dominion came up with some 90s sounding country songs to put on an album for them.

That being said, they aren't horrible. Saw them in NOLA at Bayou Country Superfest with Stapleton and Strait, and they are good. Put on a good show and play some good music.

But they aren't what they want you to think they are - a band who busted their arse in small clubs until getting a break. The lead singer was an actor on the soap opera Passions, and also was in the movie The Eyes of Tammy Faye, as well as being an underwear model. The bass player used to direct pop music videos for folks like Bruno Mars and JLo.

Promo photo looks manufactured.

Like the article writer, I think the music's decent.

eta: I tend to group them with Flatland Cavalry, the Panhandlers, Shane Smith and the Saints, John Pardi, Wilder Blue. Easy listening, smooth asphalt as opposed to red dirt and gravelly. But the conjured-up backstory is kinda tacky.

Remember reading that article in Saving Country Music...and then I listened to their songs and like you I liked some of them.
