Anyone saying The Who is a dumbass, my answers are U2 and Aerosmith. Aerosmith’s 70’s output was ok but everything since is drivel.

This is an easy one...
Nirvana.
They were not the pioneers and were not the best out of Washington. 50 other bands had already covered that sound. "Grunge" is described as a sound or genre but it was not even created in Seattle.
Go listen to King's X "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska", released in 1989, and tell me that's not the sound EVERY band was trying to mimic from Pearl Jam to AIC to Nirvana.
Nirvana got a break. Green River was supposed to be THAT band.

Radiohead might be most underrated.

A lot of the answers seem to be more of a Troll than serious (I’m looking at you Kafka
). But in my mind the answer is the Ramones, though I do like I Wanna Be Sedated, it’s not because of their musical prowess, it’s simply catchy.
But music is about personal taste so, other than the ability to actually produce the proper notes, etc., who’s to say, really.

Queen by far, the worship of them and Freddie Mercury is weird as hell.

weren't they just put together as a joke but, then became successful?

They were conceived specifically for a sit-com. So, actors that could pass for the parts of a band. Pleasant Valley Sunday is so good.

I'll add Kiss.
Going to see them in Laffy this weekend. Not so much for the music (which is largely crap), but for the spectacle.
