It's not solely an opinion of their music it's an opinion that suggests they are talked about and hyped more than should be. Don't conflate overrated with bad. That's not what im saying.
Ok, how did you form this opinion? Who's talking about and hyping up Pink Floyd these days? Other than Roger running his mouth about Ozzy, no one is discussing them. You did say...

Public opinion is not a measure of whether something is overrated. People follow others' opinions often without thinking. They just repeat and do if for no other reaaon than to avoid sticking out.
As if other peoples' reasons for liking Floyd are invalid simply because you think people are easily lead. It's impossible to argue about feelings, which is all this is: your feeling that Floyd is overrated. Everyone else is wrong because people are sheep, essentially, but your opinion is the correct one.

Mine is just an opinion and shouldn't matter much to you.

No. Its the truth. Reread what I posted. Sorry your tastes have been dictated to you.
Both quotes by you. You are just running your mouth and trying to get the last word and win an argument. Ridiculous.

Yeah, he's been talking contradictory nonsense. No point to engaging him.

Where are they ranked?
Where do you rank them?

How are they overrated? You said it, explain it.

I already said it earlier. Constant talk and hype for 50 years. They are the one of the automatic answers for anyone who wishes their opinion to be respected.

Revisiting this thread because Roger Waters continues to be a despicable piece of shite.

Anytime I see one of those FB questions about what was the most overrated band of all time, I always answer Pink Floyd. No doubt they were very, very good, but my gosh at the hero worship some folks have heaped on them over the years.
Always remember, this is the group that had to bring Jeff Porcaro in to play drums on Mother because it was too difficult for their own drummer to play.

I don't think that's too big of a criticism, really, considering Jeff played on a ton of other artists' records.

Other than the fact that I could legitimately teach a 5th grader to play it correctly, you’re right.

Roger Waters is a POS human being and a total prick. Always has been
But make no mistake, Pink Floyd is one of the best, if not the best, Rock and Roll band every assembled.
Dont mix things

I can't stand Roger Waters but still love the music. You have to be able to separate it. If I didn't listen to music from people I don't like, I would run out of stuff to listen to.

It is very odd. They were ok, but D.G. was great.
