Andy Gibb

Maurice and Robin also departed earlier than they should. Andy obviously sooner than they, but the brothers all seemed so close it makes me sad, like the Von Erich’s of music.

David stringbean akeman…one of the greatest claw hammer banjo players ever

quote:

On Saturday night, November 10, 1973, Akeman and his wife returned home after he performed at the Grand Ole Opry. Both were shot dead shortly after their arrival. The killers had waited for hours. Their corpses were discovered the following morning by their neighbor, musician Louis "Grandpa" Jones.
it was rumored in his rural community that he had a large amount of cash in his house…that amount turned out to be 5000 dollars. All the killers took was a chainsaw…

Andy chose drugs over Victoria Principal. Poor choice.

Agree with this one and I would add Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone. I think he was probably going to be pretty big but snuffed himself out before he really got started good. It's sad

if you’ve ever been shocked by stepping up to a microphone with a guitar in your hands, your first thought is always gonna be “oh shite, am i gonna be another Keith Relf?”

I have a grandfather I never got to meet because of something similar. He was a band leader back in the big band era and was electrocuted wiring up a microphone he thought the power had been cut off to.

It happened when my dad was just a boy so I didn't get a chance to know him.

Stevie Ray, Marvin Gaye and Lennon were all awful and unexpected. Unnecessary.
Two of the saddest for me personally were Duane Allman and Tom Petty, both because of the timing…

ETA: Warren Zevon’s passing really affected me…

Sinead was brilliant and courageous in her own way. But some of her troubles were self-inflicted.

Was Sam a bad guy? It bums me out we didn't get a longer career. I'm hoping he was just an omission here.
