This is around the time I switched my music listening to 100% Red Dirt/Texas Country and left the Nashville stuff behind.

Oh, and for the record, it’s your shitty taste, not the music , that’s to blame.

The Charley Crockett vs. Gavin Adcock online feud has been pretty entertaining and a good representation of the current "battle" over what constitutes "authentic" country music.

That was absolutely silly. I remember when he feigned that Billy Joel was standing behind him on stage. ...like he was surprised.

What's this about. Haven't listened to either one. I've probably heard a song from both guys but that's all I know.

Charley made some lengthy post defending Beyonce's country album and also talking about it's as authentically country as Morgan Wallen using trap beats in his songs and being labeled country. Adcock, who is a Wallen wannabe and signed by him, I believe, started in on Charley saying he wasn't a real cowboy and such.

It's gone on from there with Adcock posting videos of Charley busking (and not singing country) on the subway and not wearing cowboy clothing and labeling Charley a "cosplay cowboy." Charley responding with pictures of Hank Sr., Woodie Guthrie, and George Jones all playing on streets not in western regalia. Etc.. etc..

Just basically sort of a "fight" over authenticity in country music. I'm team Crockett all the way, as I love Charley. I also think he's a hell of a lot more authentically country than Adcock and all the horrible bro country pop shite that I just can't stand.

The Hollywood dickheads took over. Started telling the artists what to play. F em.

It’s part of their Marxist (socialist) cult. Beyoncé doing country. It’s just f ing stupid.

Yep. Before her, country music was actually about the music, not a performer's ability to dance in a sexy way.

I saw an interview with the writer. He said when he shopped the song around, one label guy told him privately, "Don't embarrass yourself by bringing us anything else like this."

In my opinion, if Confederate Railroad, or Kentucky Headhunters had cut that song, we would look back at it differently.
The whole Billy Ray Cyrus thing and everything associated with him, left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouth.
If either of those bands had done it, it would just be a goofy fun song.

It aint the first one, there have been a bunch of songs that were hits, that were just as bad or worse.
That one is hated more than all of them, and I think it's because of Billy Ray Cyrus and too much air play.
