Won’t happen.
Nurse is being mentioned because a Laker coaching search where you don’t mention a big name is automatically going to catch shite from the fans.
They seem pretty locked in on Juwan Howard, who is available depending on a Michigan buyout.
Guys like Quin Snyder? Utah would have to cut him loose first and taking the Jazz’s leftovers looks bad.

Shams also says that Indiana could be a trade partner for Westbrook. Indiana needs to start over, but they still have huge contracts for Hield and Brogdon for two more years.
Maybe they want dump Hield and Brogdon so that they only have bad contracts for one more year instead of two.

non-lakers
Kings let uncle Al go. Back to the OC job somewhere for him I guess

Lowe said a fair deal would be rustle and two 1st round picks for hield and brogdon. Lakers may never pick again

if I were the lakers I’d do that trade in a millisecond. They’d be instantly better constructed
pacers get off all that money and get two future picks for their trouble

Hield and Brogdon roughly work from a money perspective but Indy is still getting the worst player in the trade here.
If they are taking Westbrick, at least give them Austin Reaves as a throw in.

They're getting the 2027, 2028 swap, 2029 unprotected picks too for that trade.

Because if we could get unprotected picks/swaps from 27-29 we'd probably trade them band aid role players ourselves.

it’s not about bailing out the lakers, it’s about realizing how rare and valuable a 47MM expiring contract is, for a rebuilding team. The pacers got hield in the haliburton trade to make the money work...they don’t want that contract going forward. They signed brogdons deal a couple years ago, and now don’t want that one either. They can clear their books and start over around haliburton and turner with multiple picks. That kind of opportunity doesn’t come often

Trade machine was being stupid, claiming that Brogdon had 4 yrs $60m left.
He is a $22.6m expiring so he is just ballast to make a Westbrick deal work and dump Hield’s contract.

So the question is will the lakers be the best offer for Hield? Decent chance they get outbid given that their draft pick wouldn’t be for another 5 years

I heard that and man that just seems like such a bad deal for Indiana to me.

Depends on Indy’s aims.
Two future Laker firsts will be worth a lot. Doing this shaves probably $20-40m off what they have to pay out. They also potentially have Westbrick take a buyout to help offset the cost so he can try to go suck somewhere else.

They're not going anywhere next season. And they can add two 1st rounders and a $47 million expiring. That's like a dream scenario I'd think.

Plus a swap.
Considering the state of the Lakers, that means three picks over about the next 8 years, and two of those will be swaps.
If they don’t reload via free agency, they are completely fricked.
