the Knicks would give up everything to be relevant
That would be the worst basketball trade of all time for both teams.
The Knicks have shite for talent and an old arse Lebron isn't making the playoffs with that shite squad.
I hope to hell that happens.
I mean realistically, the teams I could see Lebron agreeing to go to would be:
Clippers
GS
Miami
Cleveland
Atlanta maybe?
Brooklyn
Philly
Dallas
Chicago
I don't even have the vaguest idea how any of these have the caproom to make it happen.

How do the Knicks get in the discussion without giving up RJ Barrett?
For salary matching purposes, the Knicks have to send out roughly $40-50m.
Given their roster, that means some combo of Randle ($26m), Fournier ($18m), Rose ($14m), Burks ($10m), Nerlens Noel ($9m), Kemba Walker ($9m), and Barrett ($10m).
Now that is a big pile of shite outside of Barrett, especially given guys like Fournier and Randle have a lot of guaranteed money left.
Other guys like Cam Reddish could work to fill out the trade but

Sign and trade of Hardin to LA for LeBron?
I’d pay money to see that on both ends.

lets say the knicks offer randle, fournier and ALL THE PICKS. if the lakers turn that down for one last year of lebron they are categorically insane

Randle’s contract is an albatross. Putting him next to AD would be pure comedy.
Let’s hope it happens.

$8m deal vs a $100m monstrosity of a contract to start with
And Randle played huge chunks of the season while Mr Glass was sat to preserve his trade value.

I have seen a bunch of breakdowns on Randle and why he was do bad this year. He definitely pressed and he thrived playing without the pressure/fans the year before. He wasn't so much bad, as he regressed back to what he was before. He is not a star or a number 1. But he has value and can put up great numbers in the right situation. Thibs has talked about all this and how they can get him back to close where he was his breakout year. Smart money is he'll never been that good again.
But he's not a bust or a bad player by any stretch. He averaged 20/10/5 last year and almost carried them to the playoffs. Knicks had a much better record than the Pels, so they weren't trash..

Thibs ran him, like many before him, into the ground. Thibs being gone by the ASB next season wouldn’t be shocker. He wears out his welcome.
As far being a star or not, let’s pump the brakes on your talent evaluation. We’ve been down that road before.

as a GM I would take randle and his baggage over lebonk and his baggage 10/10. Randle and AD together worked. It worked for the pels and it more importantly worked for the pels when Davis was out.
people are overreacting to this past year just like they overreacted to the previous year. Throw in Fournier/whoever and a string of picks, cut ties with klutch, run it back with GOATbrook for one last year and see what happens
Wait...why am I trying to fix the lakers?

Very true. It seems he is trying to ease up and make it work. At least he is saying the right thing.

I said he's not a star. He's not. He is a solid player that is about to be way overpaid.
But they made him their primary player, for better or worse, and he did the best he could. He played the most minutes and led them in almost every category. They weren't the worst team in the league.
People are drooling over Barrett and giving him all these props. He had almost an identical season as Randle (minus the rebounds and assists). Its not the reality that Barrett was better..

Pels’ record mainly reflects the problems at the start of the season and not what was fixed at the ASB.
Same team we had from the ASB to the playoffs is likely a 45-50 win team before adding Zion.

Was just looking back at page 1 of this thread. You nailed it LOL

I honestly wouldn't take Julius Randle for free even if he was sent with a 1st round pick too.
I also said the same even when he was doing well last season. That contract is way too much negative value.

Hell, you can go further back than that. Starting January 6, the team was playing .500 ball. They had a little hiccup 4-game losing streak at the end of January, but went 18-14 after January. They were 13-10 post-ASB; 14-12 with CJ
That makes this team, as they ended the season look like around 45-37 of 46-36. Minnesota was the 7 seed at 46-36, for reference.
Adding the maturity and chemistry that this team developed in the post-season, along with the physical anomaly that is Zion should be worth a few Ws, which puts you in the 4-5 range in the West.
The Lakers pick is the cherry on top of the icing on the cake (I am not ashamed of a mixed dessert metaphor).

How is he any worse than Ingram?
They are basically mirror players statistically. Randle makes much less and will be paid less going forward. They both suck at defense. Randle is a 1 and Ingram's going to be either 2 or 3. How is Randle a worse deal?

I’m with you brah
Randle is a stud. Lakers would be foolish not to foist lebraindead on them if they could get Randle back
