New Orleans Pelicans receive: Luka Doncic.

Dallas Mavericks receive: Brandon Ingram, Herbert Jones, Dyson Daniels, 2024 1st-Round Pick (via LAL, can pick either 2024 or 2025), 2024 1st-Round Pick (swap option with MIL), 2025 1st-Round Pick, 2026 1st-Round Pick (swap option with MIL), 2027 1st-Round Pick, 2029 1st-Round Pick.

I get that Luka is up here, but let's be realistic.

And yes, let's tie our hopes to the all star who hasn't stayed healthy instead of the one balling right now. Not a knock on Zion, as I hope he gets healthy and plays for us for a long time, but facts are facts.

Uhh, the Pels can't pull the trigger on that trade fast enough if it were real.

Dude!

That is a hard pass from me and hope you were being sarcastic.

That’s basically 7 first rounders, Herb and BI for Luka…

A little about the writer

quote:

Divij Kulkarni is an NBA columnist for Fadeaway World. Finding exciting and intriguing content about all things NBA is both his job and his passion. Divij loves the Dallas Mavericks and can be regularly observed getting emotional during games. Outside of basketball, he enjoys reading fantasy and sci-fi novels, consuming copious amounts of movies and TV, and spending time with his dog, Olivia.

So...not biased at all. 6 total unprotected firsts or swaps

Ingram

Our best defender, and our 2nd best defender with a lot of offensive upside

Of course he loves this trade. He is a fan of the Mavs, and loves fantasy novels...so he writes fan fiction articles that he can fap to

Herb and BI for Luka

An all world defender that can't shoot and an injury prone elite 3 level wing scorer for Luka.

Feel more comfortable if it was BI and 6 firsts rather than taking our depth as well…

I feel like Dallas clearly gets better with this trade assuming they keep Kyrie. They also have routes to improve with the picks and young talent coming in

I feel like Zion’s health would be key on whether or not the pelicans improve. We would also have to start 100% hitting on the draft picks we have since we have less to mess up on.

You can’t pick Kira Lewis or Jaxson Hayes or NAW anymore if you are trading more than half of our picks.

You also can’t make dumb deals for guys like Adams and Graham and then have the ability to ladder out of them.

So in conclusion. Zion would have to be healthy and our front office would have to significantly cut down on the mistakes they make for this to truly work out for us.

I mean this isn’t too far off. Maybe a couple picks taken off or one of Herb and dyson

And I’d do it.

Mavs are willing to blow up their future because he does not smile anymore? Doubt Mark Cuban is this stupid.

Not at all.

I get to keep Zion and Trey and have a Luka/Zion/Trey core AND have CJ in the short term...we are instantly better than we are now by a shite ton and are positioned soooooo much better to win a title than we are now.

This would be a no brainer trade to make. Any time you can get a generational all time talent while not giving up your best player, you do it.

Well, it's Luka Doncic, so he's worth that much.

This is a players league. If Luka were to demand a trade, they’ll do it

There’s been no indication of him wanting to leave tho they do suck balls and Kyrie probably won’t come back. Them not signing Brunson was so stupid

I don't think Luka will demand out this summer, but probably next summer if Dallas continues to fail building around him.

But, if he did, given that it is Luka freaking Doncic, and given that it's Mark Cuban, I can see a scenario where Cuban plays hardball and simply refuses to trade him and calls Luka's bluff to sit out a season or more.

Would do it in a heartbeat. Zion and Luka also enough name power that you even start to get vet ring chasers on the cheap.

I’d try to keep at least Dyson or Herb out of the trade, preferably Dyson. And maybe that last Bucks pick. Everything else I’d gladly hand over for Luka.

Doubt anyone else could beat an offer like that with BI.

I would too, but my guess is the Mavs would say they're conceding by leaving Trey out, which would be a solid compromise likely, one I think we "win" if you will.

Luka is top 3 in most valuable players in the league.
