Davis Smith is an interesting hire. He's very young and is only a year out of college and is the son of Steve Smith.

Extremely underwhelming hires. These are castoffs from the worst teams in the league.

Type of hires expected from Dumars and a poverty franchise.

I love comments like this. It just shows how out ot touch people are and so eager they are to spend other people's money. We are a small market team with thin margins. We shouldn't pay the tax. We shouldn't splurge on luxury hires. We need to be tactical and make smart moves.

I don't know if Dumars is the guy, but we needed a paradigm shift in the organization. This past season was a disaster. We wasted so many resources and a ton of money. The business has to be fixed.

I hate to say this but OKC is the model. They are going to dominate the league for the next 2 years at least. They are 25th in payroll this season. They have their core 12 under contract next season (next 2 season actually). They also have 2 1st round picks and are adding a potential star in Topic. That is the blueprint to copy. One major star, a couple borderline allstars and a roster of discount role players. We are way too top heavy on salary and have no serious depth with no defined system. It's going to be bad this year too unless we make some huge changes..

I don’t want to spend Gayle’s money at all, she wastes it at every venture she has been involved with.

I’d like to “fix the market” be electing pro business law and order types that attract people and investments so we can grow.

Since NOLA is incapable of that approach the Pels need to find a better market to compete. It’s time to trust what you think. It’s time to sell and move the team.

No. I do not agree with this. The team will be sold eventually, but the market is fine. The Pelicans have a huge footprint across 4 states and should rule most of the Gulf Coast. It just needs leadership with the vision, and resources, to put a plan into action. There are many groups that would happily make that type of investment. Most will be from out of state, but that shouldn't be a factor. Most NBA owners do not live locally to their franchises.

If the Pels have a surprisingly competitive year, will you guys have the decency to avoid posting with your constant, reflexive negative shite.
How about giving the new regime a fair chance?

Lol

Look who you are talking to. If the Saints and Pelicans won championships in the same year that troll would be finding reasons to bitch

he is not a real person, he is here to troll and get a rise out of people

If my aunt had a dick.... Sorry, VOR, but Gayle Benson and her band of leaches has fricked up every major decision point for this franchise over the last 2 years.

Also, given a "chance," Joe Dumars hired a bunch of also-rans without any demonstrative wins on their collective resume.

OKC did a great job of drafting the right players with their multitude of picks. The Pels have not.

This is bullshite. Drafting was an absolute bright spot for this team over the last 7-8 years. Unfortunately, we got a transcendental retard instead of the transcendental talent when we "won" the lottery.

It was?

2016-Hield, Diallo
2017- Jackson
2018- Carr
2019 - Zion, Hayes, NAW, Didi
2020 - Lewis
2021 - Murphy, Jones
2022 - Daniels, Liddell, Matkovic
2023 - Hawkins
2024 - Missi, Reeves

Still too early to tell on Missi, Reeves, Matkovic, but they all show some level of potential as rotational players. Before that, it was pretty much a mixed bag and not necessarily a huge strength.

OKC lucked out on a fantastic trade, getting SGA and a ton of picks for George. They had a lot of shots at building a team and did it right. We have not had nearly as many shots and have not hit as often. Now, Griffin did piss away a good bit of draft capital as well

Of course it is. Who can realistically follow it though? They made out like a bandit because Paul George hand picked the Clippers and OKC held all the leverage-

Clippers received:

F Paul George

Thunder received:

G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
F Danilo Gallinari
Miami Heat’s 2021 unprotected first-rounder (Tre Mann taken at No. 18)
Clippers’ 2022 unprotected first-rounder (Jalen Williams taken at No. 12)
Right to 2023 first-round swap with Clippers (not conveyed)
Clippers’ 2024 unprotected first-rounder
Heat’s 2025 protected first-rounder for 1-14 (unprotected for 2026)
Right to 2025 first-round swap with Clippers
Clippers’ 2026 unprotected first-rounder

This x100. This board is insufferable. No one is making excuses. Every one has the right to be pissed off, but again posting daily threads complaining gets lame.

Dumars is the guy - I’m 46% confident lol

You like those greasy small tenders, Awful crinkle fries, Cole slaw drenched in milk and mayo? You do know what is in that sauce?

We can do better than that. Besides isn’t he building Dallas Cowboys themed restaurants now? Yeah let’s get a Cowboys fan to own the team . That will solve the problem.
