Kira needs to score. You cant be on the floor that long and not score a single point. He had Kennard on him and couldn’t take him off the dribble. This was a great game but was surprised by no offensive aggression from Kira.

Cool, watch the lineup. BI kept it afloat by nailing some highly contested shots. That is not a good lineup at all

That lineup played 6 minutes together last night. They scored 15 points on 50% shooting to go with 8 rebounds and 3 assists.

BI scored 6 of those 15 (2 made shots w/2 FTs).

I wouldn't dismiss positive stats from that group as just "BI kept it afloat."

I was not impressed with Dyson either.

19 min/ 6 pts/ 5 reb/ 2 stl/ 1 blk/ 50% fg

If he made the (1) 3pt he took then people would be talking about how well he played. Everyone needs to calm down it’s game 1.

Dyson played well. I think if he can play like this, we’re more than fine. Personally, I expected a bit more out of Kira but its early so lets see.

What some people don’t understand is that Kira is elite for us when you consider spacing and his speed. He also helps recovery on defense and with pace.

The only other player we have to do that is Jose and we don’t have him yet. Healthy Jose + Hawkins/ Dyson improvement = Kira gone faster

Yeah i get what you’re saying. Kira’s defense was ok but this was his chance to step up with Jose gone (still time to do that) but I just didn’t see what I saw in preseason from him. Again one game, so lets see. These games are basically his nba career.

I greatly, greatly disagree. There no universe where Kira is "elite for us".

He has not shown himself to be an NBA Player at all. He will be in Europe or China at the pace he is going.

If he can’t show us anything with Jose being out, I tend to agree. I hope he realizes this might be his last shot.

Come on man. Don’t take that out of context

I’m agreeing he has not been great at a lot of things.

The only things he is “good” at is allowing our other players to play better. Because of his elite speed and spacing abilities because of that speed.

He’s prob one of the top 5-10 fastest players in the NBA. That is elite. He is not elite. But he just so happens to have skills that are needed for our success without having the availability of Jose.

Yeah, I don't think he is elite or anything of that sort at that either.

I don't think he gives us anything whatsoever.

I would argue his elite speed is only good if he finishes. The problem is he doesn’t finish or draw fouls. As a defense facing him what are you really fearing? Again, one game so lets see.

He has elite speed. That isn’t an argument. That doesn’t mean he is “elite”. His ability to spread the court and play transition ball helps our other players.

Use +/ -

Kira might be +0 which is a wash.

But if his +0 gives Bi, Z, etc +2, +4 because of spacing then it’s necessary even if it doesn’t seem that he specifically is bringing much to the table.

I get what you’re saying but personally I think you can achieve the same purpose by giving his minutes to a shooter. Plus that shooter will probably score more points. To me the threat of shooting is a better space opener and threatens defenses more than Kira’s speed. I think the other issue for pels is hes one of the only other point guards we have and with Jose out we have to rely upon him.

He had:

11min/ 0-3 fg/ 0 reb/ 0 ast/ 1blk/ 1 TO/ 1 PF

And was STILL +0

He is clearly a positive impact on our other players with that stat line and not being negative.

That's great, but he isn't very good at NBA basketball and doesn't use it to his advantage very much.

He simply isn't any good and its year 4.

A light could still turn on but I am not seeing it. Any minutes with him on the floor are a waste of 1 of the 5 positions.

Bro that is a horrible stat line in 11 minutes. Regardless of his plus/minus. Thats honestly embarrassing. I get you’re saying with that he was still plus 0. But I would like to see what it was with the same guys when they replaced him. I bet it was much higher.

I am confident in Dyson's other skills to give him minutes and let him develop. Its only game 1 of year 2 for him, and he has the defense, size, and ball handling to see the court.

Kira isn't going to happen

I agree, but DD was not great last night. He did a lot of reaching and got into foul trouble. I do have confidence in him though, at least defensively.

What? Elite? Pace is not the same as speed. The first thing he did when he came in was dribble the hell out of the ball at the top of the key as the shot clock ran down and sent the ball to BI to bail out. He just does not seem to get it or is too scared to make a mistake.

One thing I'm very disappointed in him is the lack of development in the 4 years he's been in the league. He's still the same kid with the offensive toolbag that hasn't translated. He added little to his game since, his shot/scoring hasn't translated well, and he's not really viable NBA PG. And he's still so small. I'm not sure he'll ever get past the hump of being a backup JAG.
