Naji defense has been ridiculous bad the past couple of weeks. No boxing out, no intensity, he lost his juice man. His offense and defense these past 2 games have been horrendous.

But here’s the problem no contending team will give Kira 20 plus minutes thats borderline ridiculous.

they absolutely would if he was good enough.
Philly gave it to Maxey
Boston gave it to Pritchard, not the higher drafted Nesmith
NYK gave it to Quickly
Memphis gave it to Bane

i agree, and its why he has been playing about 15 mpg the last 12 games as opposed to the 25mpg he was playing in the first 63 games of the season.

And we would give it to Jose if he was healthy. Kira just isn’t good but he might be good enough to take the ten-fifteen minutes of Naji.

Kira, and Jaxson as well, will get 2nd. NBA contracts and likely have productive NBA careers. They also will likely earn those contracts with other NBA teams. They have more talent than any Pels rotational player, save Dyson and a healthy Nance, and are only 22.

Shamit put out a tweet the other day that's interesting. I'll try to paraphrase:

He essentially said it's almost as if he's being punished for getting hurt last year. That's not the intent, but that's kind of how it feels at times. If you think of all the players to come through here that got a real opportunity to play, it's hard to figure out why Kira hasn't gotten his. Gary Clark and Tony Snell had opportunities. NAW and Jaxson were allowed to play through their mistakes. Even Naji received a ton of freedom and was allowed to play through a ton of mistakes, while Kira really doesn't get a fair opportunity. It would be one thing if players ahead of him were playing amazing ball, but they aren't.

I've gotten to where I can't stand that dude, but i actually agreed with this.

I would get the "They see him in practice and he just isn't good enough" argument if 1) he didn't look good in the g-league and in the limited minutes he does get and 2) his age.

I'm not going to punish/hate on a 21 year old in essentially his second year who has looked good all year in his combined g-league and NBA minutes. He was drafted raw so year one it wasn't surprising he had little minutes. Year two was a wash because of injury, even though you could argue that what we did see was a positive. Year three and in his minutes he's looked like what you'd want to see.

In regards to the thread title, last night was actually the first time I noticed to that he looked a little bit checked out. But that could be a personal issue, who knows. Jonas is also a guy that sits there and does nothing when he is on the bench. Jonas doesn't even clap on made baskets when he's on the bench. That doesn't make me think that Jonas doesn't care, some guys are just like that.

Naji has been sucking bc of mental mistakes not physical.

Naji always made mental mistakes, but he made up for it with non stop hustle and intensity. Lately, that hustle and intensity has been completely missing.

The drop-off in intensity last night when he and Josh replaced Herb was incredible. And the increase in intensity each time Herb returned was just as glaring.

Whether it's Kira, Naji, or whomever, our bench players need to start bringing energy. It's ridiculous that they need Jose to get their energy going.

I predict we'll move on from one of Kira or Naji this offseason along with letting Richardson walk. They'll need to free minutes for Dyson and Trey.

The G League is just AAU for guys over 19. It's meaningless.

the age argument needs to stop. The first 7 picks of the draft were 19 years old. 10 more guys drafted were 19, and Poku was 18. Either you're good enough or you aren't. Doesn't matter if your 19 or 20, and there were plenty of other 19 years olds that didn't get to play 2 years of college in that draft.
I dont' understand why all of you want to think Kira was the only young guy that was drafted. If anythign, Kira should have had an advantage being the only 19 year old of the 19 guys drafted that were 19 and under b/c he got to play 2 years in college unlike everyone else.

is that code for couldn't shoot?
It is surprising to not get minutes as a top 13 pick.

Kira has had two different coaches. Neither of them seem to think he's a capable PG and have him playing off the ball more than playing the lead guard role. No one gets a rebound and seeks out Kira to start the offense like they do for Jose.

Kind of a ridiculous statement by Shamit. He seems to ignore that the Pels drafted Daniels at #8 and Jose blew right past Kira and is much better. Where do you play him? I could see some spot minutes, but who's spot in the lineup does he take?

G League is no barometer. If it were, Seabron would not have been released today. There are many players who light it up in the G League and cannot get on the court in the NBA.
