Curious about if this will be available on YouTube TV in the surrounding Nola area

I'm sure if won't make a difference, but I just submitted a request to YoutubeTV using the below link to add Pelicans games for local (Louisiana) viewers. Maybe if enough people requested it they would consider it.

Me too. If not, and they're charging $15 for the streaming service, I'll just watch League Pass with my VPN like last season.

The problem with getting the games on the main Gray stations like Fox 8, WAFB, KPLC etc is the affiliation agreements with CBS, Fox and NBC. They are required to run network programming and can’t remove it a whole lot during the year. So that is why all the games are going on the subchannels

I’m worried about the bars. How many bars are going to have an antenna and bartenders to be bothered to finding the over the air channel 82 times a year? Bars are an important part of the equation in delivering a sports product.

We need an antenna to watch an NBA team in 2024?

That's how you know this is grade A, clown show bullshite.

The league should step in and mandate that teams either have a legit broadcast partner than can handle EVERYTHING that they should be able to, or else the NBA takes over broadcast rights themselves.

They kind of allude to it in the press release, but Christian Clark expanded on it a bit in his podcast that they are trying to work out deals with the local cable companies for the new channel. The season is only 1 month away, but I don't see that as a negative. Deadlines are often what get deals done.

Preseason starts in a week and I still don't know how I'm going to be watching games this year. Such a piss-poor job by the organization to let it get to this. It sounds like I will 100% be watching less Pelicans games, unfortunately.

Man, I've defended this Mickey Mouse organization for years, but this TV situation is ineptitude at a new scale. They are actively running ads that offer a fricking antenna as the only way to watch Pelicans games in Baton Rouge.

In 2024.

Do I need an AM radio for play-by-play?

Lafayette doesn’t have a Grey affiliate so antenna does nothing.

That sucks. Did Bally's drop us and let the team try to sell it as a good thing? Otherwise, this feels like someone had a good idea with no plan to execute it.

Antenna doesn't do me any good here in Gonzales either. It's amazing this is an issue in 2024.

I’m still holding out hope. Christian Clark has been the main news breaker on this stuff and he seems pretty positive they will be ready to go. He said on his podcast that some announcements should be imminent and the organization was very close to deals with providers such as Cox and other cable providers. He also said there should be an announcement for “Pelicans Plus” a streaming option before the season. I’ve said it many times before, the antenna does me no good as I can’t watch but maybe 10% of games live. I need a dvr or streaming option. I am hopeful Christian knows what he is talking about.
