Reporters actually asking good, hard questions. It sounds like Griff's plan is to win enough to justify paying the tax to the point that they can bridge the contract gap with BI.

I am actually impressed. They've been pressing and following up hard.

I literally have zero interest in anything Griff has to say.

I'll listen to this other guy though. At least I don't know if he's bull shitting or not yet.

Sounds more like there's no way they will agree to the numbers he wants but they're content with letting him play out his contract.

I’m preparing myself that BI situation will play out like Paul George and the Clippers. He walks at the end of the year and we get nothing.

"he's so historically efficient in the paint, we don't get to see how good of a shooter he is"

I have been saying this for years. He's been able to make spot up jumpers, post up fadeaway jumpers, and dribble pull up jumpers at every level, and heals made in the NBA when he took them. Dude gets a lot of lift, his wrist flick is beautiful, and he has the dribble package to be able to break down a defender and pull up.

He's just so good slashing that he doesn't need to.

Green won't commit to Theis starting. Sounds like an open competition for the starting 5.

Honestly I’m okay with that. As long as this guy is open minded and not fixed on the idea of needing the start big

I mean, this probably is the best collection of talent we ever had, or at least is over the past 5 or so seasons.

The issue is the fit.

Best collection of talent doesn't necessarily mean best team. We hope it is, but there's a reason why many or maybe even most aren't convinced it will e the best team, even though the talent is there.

I just don't see who else can realistically start at C.

Not BI or Trey, they cannot be a starting center.

There could be benefits to Zion starting at C, but I think playing him heavy center minutes is a really bad idea given the wear and tear of that position compared to what we ask him to do now defensively, it increases injury risks, and I'm not sure the benefits make that worth it. If the benefit is we absolutely dominate with Zion at C, then I'm ok with added injury risk, but I just don't see it with heavy C minutes.

We are in a weird spot where I feel like the damage is already done and we botched it.

Obviously, maybe we can pull off a trade that works for us, that is the goal now.

But I also feel like we already botched it and at this point going forward, just letting BI walk may end up being the best route to take. Basically what I mean is, if there's simply zero market for him, we're down to 2 options: Play out the year and become a free agent or sign to an extension. If that's our only 2 options and no real trade is available, we need to let him walk, don't compound the losses of what we already screwed up.

I could see a contender come knocking for BI midseason if one of their stars go down.
