The Grizzlies just choked at home to the bulls getting outscored by 10 in the 4th.

What a crazy concept to try to play when sick.

Some people thought that the Grizz were going to have a great year with a healthy Ja. I have not. I think that they will be lucky to make the play-in.

Pels still own the Bucks 2026 swap rights and get the more favorable of our pick and the Bucks pick in 2027 (the other pick goes to Atlanta for Murray).

Bleacher Report:

quote:

NBA executives say there is anticipation growing around the league that Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo could be traded this season.

"Teams are circling— and hopeful," an anonymous executive for a Western Conference team told CBS Sports' Bill Reiter.

Another NBA executive told Reiter that they "wouldn't be surprised" if an Antetokounmpo trade happened by the Feb. 8 trade deadline.

A third executive for an Eastern Conference team said they have heard Antetokounmpo's preferred trade destinations would be the Miami Heat or the Brooklyn Nets, per Reiter.

I seem to remember a certain poster here saying the situation in Milwuakee was ripe for a Giannis trade, and he backed it up with plenty of logical facts based around player age, players declining abilities, ridiculous salary and tax implications, and zero young talent or the ability to get any talent by trading anyone but Giannis b/c they do'nt have draft picks either.
Gee, i wonder who that was?

Here's a reminder of what I said.

They have zero bench b/c outside of Giannis/Lillard/Middleton/Lopez/Porter/Connaughton ($174M with 6 players, which is a tax team with just those 6), they have no money to sign anyone else. Gary Trent is the only other NBA player on their team. That's 7 players who are nba players, and the rest of the roster is poo poo, and they have basically zero means to get better while keeping Giannis

This is what they currently have for picks, and they can't trade any of them.

2026 1st - Pels have the option to swap with them.
2028 1st - Portland has the option to swap
2030 1st - Portland has the option to swap

They have zero 2nd round picks.

They have zero incoming 1sts or 2nds.
They have zero draft picks they can trade.
They are a 2nd apron team and have had a tax bill close to $100M the last 3 years.

The only positive asset they have that can get them anything is Giannis, b/c i doubt anyone is forking over a bunch of firsts to take in LIllards 34 year old $54M salary next year, and the $58M in 2027.
No one is giving up anything for $23M expiring 36 year old Lopez, nor for Middleton's $32M/yr this year and next. They could probably get a 1st for Portis at the deadline, but they get worse as a team when they do that, and it still doesn't get them out of the 1st apron assuming they are dumping him.

The Grizz are missing Bane and Smart tonight and are still up 70-48 at halftime over a Bucks squad starting Giannis and Dame.

The Bucks just seem to be really, really bad right now.

I think it's a mistake for Giannis to leave. But if I'm the Bucks and he forces my hand. First, I'm only looking at teams in the West. Second, Lillard has to go with him. Third, I want a huge haul.

Best team I saw is the Spurs.

Giannis and Lillard

For

Castle, Vassell, Johnson, Collins, Jones, plus 5 1sts (they have a bunch of extra 1sts)

I actually think that Giannis and Wemby are a good pair.
