Alright baws, I've been drinking watching Trey kill the Griz, so someone check my math on this.

All of this is assuming the Clippers close out the Lakers

5 seed – Pels W vs NYK, W vs MIN (Finish 43-39)
GS lose 1 of 2 (Finish 43-39)
Clippers lose 1 of 2 (Finish 43-39)
Lakers go 2-0 (Finish 43-39)
All three teams have a common record of 6-5 against one another
Conference records:
Pels: 30-22
Warriors:29-23
Clippers: 25-27
Lakers: 25-27

OR

5 seed – Pels W vs NYK, W vs MIN (Finish 43-39)
GS lose 1 of 2 (Finish 43-39)
Clippers lose 1 of 2 (Finish 43-39)
Lakers go 1-1 or 0-2 (Finish worse than 43-39)
Common Records:
NOP: 5-2
GSW: 5-2
LAC: 2-5

Conference records:
Pels: 30-22
Warriors: 29-23
Clippers: 25-27

6 seed
Pels win all tiebreaker scenarios where Pels/Clippers/Lakers end with same record (Pels and Clippers 4-3 common record, Lakers 3-4. Pels win Conference record tiebreaker, same as above).
-Pels go 2-0, Clippers go 2-1, Lakers go 1-2
-Pels go 2-0, Clippers go 1-2, Lakers go 1-2
-Pels go 1-1, Clippers go 1-2, Lakers go 0-3

There's a few more options with GS going 0-2 for us to clinch the 5 or 6 seed, but I think everything above is the most likely outcomes possible. We win any tiebreaker scenario among the 5-8 teams where any 3 or more teams are tied with us (except if we are tied with both GSW and LAL, we end up at #7), and any scenario where we are tied only with GSW or LAC.

The Lakers are the team we need to lose the most. We lose almost every tiebreaker scenarios with the Lakers.

The only one we win is a 4 way tie with NOP/GS/LAC/LAL

What will happen is we finish 8th, Lakers 7th.
We beat the Lakers in play in, then the Lakers lose to Dallas b/c Memphis will beat OKC in the last game of the season allowing Dallas to sneak in.

Then Lakers win the lottery and nab Wemby for us.

I’m still seeing Pels have an 85% chance of avoiding the play-in tournament if they win their last 2 games. This site is factoring in all the results from tonight’s games already.

path to 6 seed (don’t want to play KD):
pels 2-0
clips 1-1
one of lakers and warriors 1-1, the other 2-0

or

pels 2-0
lakers 2-0
warriors 1-1
clippers 0-2

or

pels 2-0
clips 0-2
warriors 0-2
lakers 2-0

or

pels 1-1 (beat minny)
warriors NOT 0-2
clips 0-2
lakers 1-1

or

pels 1-1 (beat minny)
warriors 0-2
lakers 2-0
clippers 0-2

or

pels 1-1 (beat knicks)
minny 2-0
warriors 0-2
lakers 1-1
clips 0-2

Confusing as hell, especially with only two games left. I like that the Knicks have nothing to play for.

I would agree if PHX was going to actually play, same with SAC, but they won’t, so the LA teams and GSW aren’t losing one of their last two games.

All about matchups in play-in. We get clippers and/or thunder we’re ok. We get warriors, lakers or wolves I think we’re done.
