Zion with 21 10 and 8. If JV makes his point blank shots- Zion probably gets triple double. I like Zion’s rebounding numbers lately.

Zion shot 3 FTs and he had 14 attempts. The refs in this league are a joke.
It’s a continuing concern how few calls Zion gets. Game after game.

Agreed. Very good zion game today. I just wish we got him more attempts. Again he was behind BI and CJ. If he's our best player he should be taking the most shots

It would help him take more shots if he could play more than 5 or 6 consecutive minutes. You can’t get shot attempts sitting on the bench.

I'll keep repeating it until it happens...
Zion has Markannan and Olynyk guarding him all night... We should have gone to him way more than we did. It was a layup or open look every time, but we're simply not being deliberate to go back to it again and again, 3 or 4 or 6 times in a row like other teams do with their stars.
And I get that he had an efficient 21 and 8 assists and should have been more... That's not enough. Tonight was easily a 35 and 10 assists type night for Zion if we give him the ball enough.

Imagine if Zion would have played 3/4 of the game? Is it unreasonable to think he would have finished with a 28/12/10 with 0-1 turnovers? Seriously, why does he not play more? Why do we choose to use our best weapon for less than 36 min a night?

Too many chefs in the kitchen man. Players need to recognize the hierarchy. I think Willie was asked about this pregame and gave some random response.

I’ve been screaming this since the offseason. The organization doesn’t understand the hierarchy, how the helm are the players?
Posted on 12/28/23 at 9:42 pm to LSUgrad88
Don't necessarily need him to get more shots. Need him as the primary creator/facilitator on offense. There's just too much gravity to waste his gifts playing him in the post and on the elbow exclusively.

He played 30 minutes and it felt like he only played 15. Too much time without the ball in his hands on offense

For the last 15 games or so, BI has overall done a 180 imo and is playing with much more so in the flow of the offense. Plus in crunch time, it's clear the game plan is for BI to be the guy.
I think the lack of just letting Zion be a super high usage guy is squarely on Willie. Probably a little on Zion for being out of shape and only getting 30mpg but this is mostly a Willie thing.
Let Zion cook!

Zion should be involved in every play on offense. If he doesn't have the ball in his hands then he should be screening for the guy that has the ball

It's surely a coincidence that the game we put both BI and Zion in actions together over and over is when we score and hit 3s and play well in the clutch.
Total coincidence!
Willie pushed all the right buttons in crunch time. Total 180 from the last few close games

You are 100% right and we are 0-6 in close games. And we have blown 9 double digit leads that turned into losses. Again, the organization doesn’t get it, how are the players?
Posted on 12/28/23 at 9:47 pm to shel311
Yeah but Willie seems to not have much input on offense. Agree BI has played better but in clutch he goes back to iso BI. But today they played through Zion. To me especially in clutch everything should go through Zion whether he gets shots or not. I dont think BI NEEDS to be the clutch guy. It should all flow through Zion- thats the clear advantage almost every game.

To be fair, he did wait at the scorer's table for about two minutes late in the 4th quarter. If a timeout had come earlier, he'd have played a couple minutes more.

But willie didn’t want to waste his timeout and kept Dyson in way too long. These are the small things we get peeved by that Willie does.

If I were confident he'd see the obvious and keep it going moving forward, it would be different but I'm not confident. Hopefully he proves me wrong.
