quote:Do you follow the draft at all? Even in a normal draft, you cannot expect much more than that unless you get lucky. In this weak draft, you should be happy the guy has any serviceable skills that late.
At best a backup defense only big with our 1st.

quote:The biggest difference is motor. Missi has a high motor. Hayes was a lazy, entitled, immature child.
Missi is not similar to Jaxon Hayes. He’s much more in the Clint Capella and Daniel Gafford mold and build. He brings what Jaxon lacks actually, as Missi is sturdier, physical and plays extremely hard. Jaxon was/is a much better shooter.

Griff said it's a deep draft even though it's weak at the top and that there are still players who they think are first rounders on the board. They could even possibly look into get back into the draft for a player.
They think there's good depth in this draft.

I'm not worried about his foul rate. It's actually a lot lower than Embiid when he was in college.
Shamit posted his per 40 college stats comparing him Jaxson. Its almost identical except Missi has a higher foul rate than Jaxson did. Yikes.
Missi in the NCAA tournament in his last 2 games had 9 pts and 3 boards against Colgate. Against Clemson he had 2 pts and 4 boards. He is as raw as it gets. Also had total of 1 block in both games.

I'm not sure what he's using but Missi averaged 2.4 fouls a game while Hayes averaged 3.3. both averaged about 23mpg.

Hayes would also be a borderline all star level C if he wasn’t mentally incapacitated and had any work ethic. If this guy is comparable to Hayes but has a better feel for the game and is more driven to improve, he could have a very high ceiling playing beside Zion.

quote:The only thing he has to offer is cash considerations (which would be highly unusual for us). If he does get back in, I hope it is for Filipkowski, Furphy or maybe Kolek.
He said it.

I wonder if we buy back in the draft. Kolek, Filipkowski and KJ Simpson are still available.

I would be SHOCKED if they spent money to get back in the second round. I can’t remember the last time we’ve done that.

Look at reed Sheppard’s last tourney game.
Comparing him to Jaxson Hayes is pointless. Jaxson didn’t fail because of ability or talent. He failed because he didn’t give a shite.
If Jax had a good work ethic he could’ve been a damn good player

Sure Reed sucked in his last game but he had an overall outstanding season and was one of the best point guards in the nation.
Missi played well but I don’t think people would say he was even one of the ten best centers in college basketball. To top it off he then had 2 shitty ncaa tournament games.

I agree from a character perspective Missi is better than Hayes. But from basketball IQ standpoint they are currently the same and I would say Missi is even more raw. The thing was even in his rookie year Jaxson got minutes. With our win now mentality, this guy may not see substantial minutes for awhile.

Yeah which is why reed went 3 and Missi went 21.
No one you’re taking at 21 is making a difference this season. I don’t think anyone is arguing that.
Missi was a decent bet at 21 in a horrible draft. I would’ve taken the bet on collier but at the end of the day it probably doesn’t fricking matter cuz this draft sucks.
We have way bigger problems than who we drafted at 21 in the worst draft in 10 years. Namely David fricking Griffin and the Ingram situation

Exactly. If Hayes wasn’t all 3 of an actual retard, immature to the point of beating his model girlfriend, and played with absolutely no motor and passion. If he just was only 2/3 of those he would have been a good player and if only 1/3 a great one. It’s a damn shame. Would have been an incredible fit next to Zion too

I keep reading more about Missi, and I like him more and the pain of not going after Holmes has subsided.
We may have drafted a taller Herb Jones in terms of work ethic, and while I don't like the time frame, he could end up being a steal of a pick.

Basketball junkie, actually saw him play a half dozen times. He’s multidimensional for a big which is the trend in the NBA. Our guy is way more limited offensively.
