We need Zion to be consistent with this kind of aggression. This is the first game where I've thought that he looked truly comfortable.

Sure.

We also need him to actually play defense and hustle back.

With about 3 minutes left Trey literally ran past Zion to hustle back and make a steal.

Yves had 14/14 with 3 blocks. Not bad.

He was so goddamn slow on rotations. I just dont get it. Its not a conditioning thing. He just doesnt fricking care unless someone attacks him directly on offense.

Aggressive, how can Zion only have one rebound in 30 minutes on the floor?

That game was an absolute blast.

I tip my cap to Borrega having Queen and fears on the bench to start the third. He rode the hot hands and it worked.

Missi looked like a future monster out there. The bulls could not handle his size and physicality. Jose played as well as I’ve ever seen.

The pelicans have largely been very fun to watch the last few games (hawks notwithstanding).

Would you be happy if Zion scored 29 points and had 1 rebound in every game for the rest of the season? I would. Especially in a game like this, where his drawing so many fouls (while shooting 13-16 from the stripe) slowed down an opponent who wanted to run, because we had opportunities to set our defense after those FTs, and their pace was otherwise giving our defense a lot of trouble.

By far his best game of the season. I almost made a thread yesterday afternoon about how disappointing he had been so far. Glad I held off on that.

The funny thing is that his on-ball defense has really improved with the weight loss. I'm happy now when an opponent wants to try to drive on him.

The bulls played Ayo at the 3, Matas at the 4 and P Will at the 5

That's why we won. We were actually the bigger team for a change. It's kind of hilarious that Z could only pull down 1 rebound tonight against the puny lineup the Bulls had out there. At least he got to the FT line and made more than usual.

1 rebound is still indefensible when Jose Alvarado scraps for 8 rebounds and Saddiq Bey (coming off an ACL) grabs 13.

And then if he leaves his man to help someone else and gets out of position he gets crucified for that too

We win and you bash Zion for only having 1 rebound.

30 mins of play:

FG: 8/14 57%
FT: 13/16 81%
RB: 1 (his avg is 5.5 per game)
AST: 2
BLK: 1
STL: 2
TO: 2
PTS 29

So you're ok with a guy half assing it? Do you hear yourself? "hey man, as long as you score 30 i don't care if you play defense or not"

There's two sides to a basketball court. Why would you accept the fact that someone chose to not give any effort on one side of the court?

There's two plays last night that show his extreme fatassness and laziness.
Here's a link to the full game replay.
LINK
At 3:30 left in the 4th, Bey hits a 3, Zion basically walks back on defense and Bulls push the pace and pass to his man who gets an easy layup b/c Zion doesn't get back in time.
Start watching at 2:30 left and watch Zion not hustle on offense while everyone else is, then pay attention to what happens once the Bulls get the rebound. Zion barely moves, then starts to lightly jog back on defense while Trey literally sprints past him to get back and ends up stealing a long pass.

You saw the lazy arse close out when we were up by 2 against Dallas and Zion let Naji win the game for them.

You have to play defense. Doesn't matter what you do on offense, that should never effect your effort on the defensive end.

I’ve been critical of Z but he played a great game. Effort is still a concern but he led us to a win, that supersedes the negativity surrounding 1 rebound.

Are you psycho? I said nothing that would indicate that I don't care if Zion plays defense.
