If anything stop trying to trade the generational talent that’s had legitimate injuries. Yeah it’s 3/4 years lol but, why doesn’t anybody ever go at Brandon’s neck? That guy misses multiple games if a breeze hits him the wrong way and then has to be begged by his teammates to come back and play. 5 games missed because Naji’s hand brushed against his face. The 30 more missed for a bruised toe. A brusied toe.

And yet we can still have 10 more years of trying if we don't make rash moves
You're correct, if we trade for Dame it could be a 2 year window. But if we don't trade for Dame, there's a decent chance this core is broken up in that same 2 year time frame.

This band isn’t staying together either way in 2 years lol. Especially after we pay Trey. Only difference is that we’ll actually still have things to work with (draft capital) when that time comes if we don’t frick it all up over an aging star.
Minnesota has really made navigating all of this extremely difficult after what the gave up for Gobert

But we definitely can keep a core of Zion/BI/Herb/Trey if we do choose.

This applies to the putative core we acquire, too.

Oh for sure they can stay together. From a cap standpoint. Now wether or not Dyson pushes BI or Z out the door when his pay day comes is the only question. I know that sounds like a crazy thought but, man that guy looked special before he hurt his ankle and only 19 years old.

If team is rolling guys will not seat on bench long with little bruises. They will want to play as much as possible. We will see I hope.

Brandon was already out for over a month at the time when Zion went down and we were too 2 in the west..

I’m good with staying the course, the only move I want is a flip from JV to a defensive minded center. Even if that player isn’t as good as JV overall (Allen, Gafford, Collins, Claxton, etc…).

Gafford isn’t what any of you numb nuts think he is!!! For the life of me I don’t understand what’s came over you people to keep mentioning that guy’s name. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills

You gotta realize, Gafford is like 1 of 3 centers in the NBA to ever have a good half or game defending the rim from Zion.
So perhaps people are overrating him due to seeing him protect the rim well against Zion, which is a rarity.

He’s 7th in DIFF% at the rim for centers.

Yeah, not too surprising. He usually passes the sniff test when I’ve seen him play.
He got drafted in the 2nd rd of the famed Jaxson Hayes draft btw. Think he was 2 or 3 years older than Hayes, so he went later.

In limited minutes.
5.8 shots defended at the rim, the leader in shots defended at the rim only has 8.3. So it’s not like his sample size is super small. He played 78 games, too.
ETA: he was 8th in DIFF% at the rim for centers in 21-22 too, so it’s not like it’s a fluke one off statistic.

It's still small enough to question. His numbers and impact has to make a Claxton-like jump before I'm even going to anoint him as a starting caliber center.

And yet still hasn't proved he can anchor the position in extended minutes yet. Maybe he can. Maybe he can't. I'm not betting on it by trading JV for a guy who hasn't made that leap yet. The ballgame is different once you're asked to anchor the post night in and night out. All he's proven is he excels in a limited role.
