Miami & GS are arguably the 2 best run front offices in the NBA, and they passed on him as well.

Same organization that just passed on Lamelo and Patrick Williams for Wiseman??

Miami is lucky it’s a destination city in the NBA. They have hit on some late round gems though. Doesn’t hurt that they also have one of the best HC in the league.

Yea, that's the point. Just because you like a guy and think a team should have drafted him does not mean it's some easy slam dunk and you're equipped with more info to make that decision than these teams. There's a shite ton going into it, it's not some easy decision as you insinuated, that's the point.

Miami generally drafts and develops really well along with finding udfas. They have a very good developmental system and scouting department.

Exactly, as I stated, there's just a lot of shite to go into it. This isn't the #1 pick in a year like Wemby or Zion where that pick is a given. When you're in the teens, no pick is some slank dunk and super obvious pick, especially when team after team is passing on a guy. They're not doing so for no reason.

I didn’t have all the info Griff has available and still thought Garland or Hunter should have been the pick over moving down for Hayes.

Also really wanted Haliburton that year and it’s been widely reported Griff woukd have traded him if he slipped to our spot. Maybe Griff just doesn’t know what he’s doing with lottery picks. I’m no expert but I’ve been more right than Griff has when it comes to judging lottery talent.

And Trey/Herb/Jose...you had all those pegged too?

Also, Haliburton went before us, but you're blaming Griff for that one?

It’s why I specifically said lottery picks. And I liked the Herb pick after we made it. Said he had a poor mans ben Simmons skill set in the thread. But I don’t get overly excited or analyze lower tier players. But I watched some of his games being in the SEC.

And it doesn’t change the fact Griff woukd have sent Haliburton packing if he had dropped.

You have no idea if Griff would have traded Halliburton. I remember watching that draft, the buzz was that the Pels were trying to move up in the draft to get Halliburton.

It's disingenuous to use an example of a player that was drafted before our pick to point out Griff's draft whiffs.

We don't know if he tried to trade up for him. If he did, we don't know what the offer was. If one thought Haliburton was soooo good, then what if Sacramento thought the same, then why would they trade down 1 spot for a meh return instead of just taking Hailburton?

It was the complete opposite, Griff was on a mission to trade the pick for veteran talent but as usual nothing materialized. I distinctly remember it being reported he had an agreement with one team to move up to our spot if Haliburton fell. It didn’t happen so we were left with Kira…

Go look at the list of the last ten MVPs. Do you have confidence our pick will ever reach that level?

last 10:

Keegan Murray
Davion Mitchell
Cam Thomas
Brandon Clarke
Josh Hart
Lonzo Ball
Tyus Jones
Glen Rice
Jonas Valanciunas

that’s like 4 starters total. probably average like 10 PPG. some good players but it’s not like they’re the best players in the league.

this isn’t an insurmountable bar being set.
