Idk what NBA you watch but I AD can't even hang with most center in today's game. Hell we see first hand how bad J.Hayes get manhandled most nights-- this kid is 180-190lbs without a lick of muscle.
Simply boxing out and rebounding will be an issue for him.
Yes AD gets manhandled by a few centers in the league, but he still averages 10+ rpg. I don't know what NBA you are watching but you are talking like this the NBA of the late 90's lol. Everything is spaced out and you have guards averaging damn near double digit rebounds. You can probably count on 1 hand the amount of time you see an actual box out during a game.
Jaxon gets manhandled because he is really bad at the game of basketball and is constantly out of position.

Saw some Johnny Davis talk on the previous page - wanted to provide some thoughts...
- Was a four-star on Rivals, but just a three-star on 247. Ultimately, his composite was outside the Top-150. Both 247 writers in Minnesota and Wisconsin were shocked by this. Both did their best to get him on the national analysts' radar. On the AAU circuit, Johnny either outplayed or went toe-to-toe with Jalen Green, Jalen Suggs, Jalen Johnson, and Jaden Springer.
- Dude won a lot of games in HS. Top-flight player in Wisconsin for three years and was a First Team All-State QB. Kid is tough as nails.
- Has been described as the ultimate competitor and a "killer." He is a true two-way player and puts every play on the line. It's a joy to watch.
- Wouldn't pay too much attention to his freshman year stats... Wisconsin was a senior-laden team that started in the Top-10. There were a lot of fragile egos, described as "jealous" because Johnny got a lot of praise from inside the program. He was that good, but never got put into the starting lineup. Not sure why, but some guess it was Gard not wanting to rock the boat and cause more strain inside the locker room.
For Wisconsin fans, there was a lot of hype for Johnny coming into the program. Not sure we expected this big of a jump, but everyone knew the keys would be handed to him after the seniors graduated. We've seen a lot of success, but Johnny brought a different dog than we're used to. There aren't many that play with a chip on their shoulder like him.

I'd be happy with one of Ivey, Mathurin, or Davis to be honest. They all have mature NBA ready bodies, plays defense, and are skilled scorers/shooters with solid efficiency. Anyone of those guys would be valuable on this squad.

My short list of intriguing prospects so far on way too small of a sample size
Tier 1
Paolo
Jabari
Chet
Tier 2
K Brown
Ivey
Baldwin
TyTy
Hardy
Also intriguing: Mathurin, Walker, Christie
Since then, been kind of disappointed with Walker and not quite as impressed with TyTy. Would slide Ivey into tier 1. Very impressed with AJ Griffin and Jeremy Sochan. Think I like Griffin more than Mathurin -- some Jimmy Butler vibes with him. I still like Christie a lot toward the back end of the lottery.

If you want to catch Johnny Davis, Wisconsin and Iowa are playing on FS1. Wisconsin up 57-40 with 15 minutes in 2H. Johnny has 19/8/3.
ETA: Finished with 26/9/5. Didn’t need him much down the stretch with Wisconsin holding a 20-point lead for awhile.

He's looking like a top 5 prospect to me. His ability to hit contested shots is special. He is the best halfcourt offensive talent in this draft.

I’ve been impressed every time I’ve watched Wisconsin. They don’t really have any other guys who can truly get their own shot, so defenses give him a lot of attention, and he still produces.

Posted in another thread but probably better fits here....
low key TyTy Washington is emerging as yet another recent stifled Kentucky guard/wing that will probably play way better in the pros...and should be available when we pick.
Prior examples:
2020: Maxey and Quickley
2019: Herro and Keldon Johnson
2018: SGA
2017: Fox, Monk
2016: Jamal Murray
2015: Booker
Even Brandon Boston in 2021 is punching above what his college numbers suggested.
TyTy this season now: 15pg, 5ast, 4rebs, 41% from three. Playing next to a junior PG. Which for reference is stronger numbers than Maxey, Quickly, Herro, and arguably Fox had their seasons there.
There are emerging some guys at guard within the range we could realistically pick(4-13) that are worth factoring in at this point: high range Ivey, mid range: Mathurin, should be there past 10: TyTy
If history is our guide, TyTy has a pretty high probability of being a draft steal

TyTy sure has been shooting it well at all 3 levels. Only player in the SEC with more than 20 attempts on 2 pointers away from the rim and he ranks 5th in FG% on those shots (103! attempts). 41% from 3 on 56 attempts. Doing a good job of setting teammates up also. Probably the only thing glaring on offense is lack of FT attempts, but his last game was a season high of 6 FTA so maybe we see some growth in conference play.
Kendall Brown was a guy I was really high on at the beginning of the year, but he's been rather disappointing recently. I watch a lot of Baylor games and his inability to provide much offense in the half court stands out. He's great at attacking recovering defenses, is super athletic, and has good vision as a passer, but I wish he showed more signs of putting it all together. He's definitely got elite defensive potential though.
Julian Champagnie reminds me of Saddiq Bey a lot. Really good defensively and rebounds and shoots the 3 very well. Definitely not an elite prospect, but someone I'm keeping an eye on who can be an immediate contributor.
Max Christie may be my favorite end of lottery target right now with a lot of basketball to be played. Seems like he will be able to get to wherever he wants on the floor and has a beautiful shooting stroke. Good defensively as well.

Yeah TyTy is honestly moving past Mathurin as my second favorite guard prospect I've watched this year.
I'll have to look into Christie, not gonna lie and say I've watched a ton of Mich St. this year when I haven't.

I just can't get over my infatuation with Jaden Ivey. He would fit so well on this team.
He and Jabari Smith Jr are the guys I would sell my soul to get on this team.
I have been intrigued by Johnny Davis though. I like what I've seen from him so far. Dude looks unguardable sometimes.

Shaedon Sharpe is now eligible for the 2022 draft. He’s a freshman at Kentucky who would have been a top 5 pick in next years draft. He was ineligible to be drafted in this upcoming draft class up until today.
6’5 guard who’s apparently crazy explosive.

Yea, he draws Zach Lavine comparisons.

Yeah he has top overall pick potential. Curious if he’ll play now at Kentucky.

Think what makes Johnny unique is his ability to score at all three levels. You don't see that much in CBB, so it becomes even more difficult to guard someone that can stop on a dime and pull-up from 12-15 feet.
Ultimately, what any team in the Lottery will get is a fierce competitor. He, truly, plays with a chip on his shoulder because he was overlooked in HS. Wasn’t even like the dude was hidden, either. He either outplayed or went toe-to-toe with top players, some of whom I referenced earlier.

I'd be happy with any of:
Ivey
Johnny
Macthurin
Sharpe
TyTy(if the pels drop to the 9-11 range)

He's getting top 5 buzz already. Looks like most mocks/draft boards have him right behind the big 4: Chet, Smith, Banchero and Ivey. Very encouraging seeing more (potentially) elite talent at guard in this class.
