Kevon Looney will likely be released by the Warriors to save money on their tax bill, per @timkawakami
(LINK
).

Only $3 million of Looney’s $8 million salary is guaranteed until it fully locks in on June 24.

If Looney is released, expect plenty of interest.

We could be. I wonder if GS would be interested in parting with some second rounders to get all 8 million off their books? We could lump Looney in while doing an Ingram trade

A lot depends on his price and the Pels cap situation, but Looney could definitely fill a spot in the center rotation. He also is a big believer in yoga and stretching after an injury plagued start to his career. It never hurts to have those kind of vets around Zion.

Zero interest in Looney.
He barely played this year, and now you're telling me they are going to let him walk while eating $3M of his $8M salary?
He's was never any good. He just hustled a lot playing on a special team. He's undersized and has zero offensive skills.

Sounds like a 3m discount from what we have.

If you're comparing Looney to Larry, Looney is a pretty good rebounder, much better than Larry in that regard. The rest of their stats are pretty comparable.

However even if we don’t use those pieces later in a Trae trade, we can always use them for the next star that demands a trade.
Isn't that what we have been waiting for with our "warchest" from the AD trade? Didn't work out. The star player would have to want to come here. Trae may have interest as supposedly he and Zion are friends.

I like a trade with Houston honestly.

Rockets: BI + Garland

Cavs: Landale + Jose + Nance + JSJ + (4) 1st

Pels: Green + Whitmore + Eason + Allen

Green/ Dyson/ vet pg
Herb/ CJ/ Hawk
Trey/ Whitmore/ Ryan
Zion/ Eason/
Allen/

Playing Green at PG seems like an utter disaster

JV is gone. Larry was unreliable. We had no 3rd center Willie would play for the 2nd or 3rd year in a row. Considering Looney isn't desperate, it's just that some of the holes that need filling aren't exciting but need to be addressed.

What do you like about that? Who is giving up all of those 1sts?

No thanks. Don't want or need another undersized big who is half way falling off a cliff. Especially one that doesn't have any offensive skills to play with Williamson.

I'd take my chances elsewhere.

Pels: 24', 25'

Rockets: (2)

What don't you like about that from our perspective?

That would be horrible from our perspective, and from Houston’s

1) We are giving up to much
2) Houston already has a PG in VanVleet, why would they want Garland? Houston wants Bridges

I would have us giving up only 1 1st (#21) at most, and swap Green with JSJ, JSJ would be a good small ball 5 for us in Larry’s place

So you're telling me that you propose giving up BI, Jose, Nance and 2 1st rounders for Green, Allen, Eason and Whitmore? Would need good protections on the picks I guess.. However, I may not be as high on Allen as most. Eason doesn't tip the scales for me.. I do like the potential of Green and Whitmore, but both are very undisciplined and Green is due an extension soon. Early discussion has been that he expects a huge deal. So, not sure I like him as the centerpiece.

Agreed

Now if we were getting the 3rd pick and sending out the 21st instead it would make more sense for us, but as drawn up we are giving up WAY to much, Houston gives up to much, and Cleveland receives WAY to much

I understand the fit of Green/ Garland and that not working.

It would be

BI = Green/ Whitmore/ Eason

Allen = Jose/ Nance/ (2) 1st

Yes I think that is = value for BI and helps us.

Yes I would rather trade Jose + 24' 1st > Dyson

Does Green help fit wise? Maybe not. But you can now keep him and/or hawk and use CJ + future picks for that guy.

We have a starting center, starting and backup PFs, (3) SF's, (2) SG's all locked up for several years and can pay them?

We are talking about trading 24' 1st and 25' 1st when we also expect major minutes from Zion, Hawk, Dyson, Herb, Trey.

If we are talking about the current 21st pick and a pick next year that is supposed to be higher compared to Eason/ Whitmore then sign me the frick up.

You hope you can send Jose + (1) 1st instead of 2 for Allen.

I personally value Dyson higher than Jose and would rather add Jose in a trade if those 2 would be the "difference maker"

I get the Garland/ Green fits but the value is not that far off.

Y'all are telling me the Hawks wouldn't trade

Murray for Green/ Whitmore/ Eason??????

And y'all wouldn't trade Jose + (2) 1st for Allen?
