I don't think anyone is pulling the trigger on a major trade until FA starts.
Teams are going to want to know what Mitchell and PG are doing first.
Maybe. I would think by draft time, agents and teams will have an idea what is going on. Depends on if draft picks are an important part of a deal. Given how weak this draft is, that may not be an issue.

To be fair with the new rules you can offer a new contract to your own player the moment the NBA finals end. Meaning regarding a guy like BI, Mitchell or PG we may know the answer to if they’re staying/leaving before free agency.

IMO, I think there are going to be more options now. However, Griffin is probably not afraid to wait if the right offer is not there. I would think some form of a trade of Murray/Capela for BI+ (either 2 team or a 3 team deal) or a Garland/Allen for BI+ are possibilities, but there could be other options as well.

What scares me is exactly what you said about Griffin waiting. We know Griffin will negotiate till death till he gets optimal value- sometimes that backfires. Like you I personally think the window is now for the betterment of the team and trade options.

Agree and do not put it past Griffin to mess things up by over playing his hand.

Im still sticking with my original trade:

I would have them remove the pick or Dyson (they would choose to keep Dyson), and with them taking Dyson I would want 4 of their 2nd round picks, they have 7 available to trade.

Like another poster pointed out, BI is worth more than Garland, so that makes Nance and the 1st a wash for Allen when making up BI’s value, but if we swap the 1st for Dyson who has slightly more value than that 21st pick, then I feel we should get some 2nd back to restock that chest

May be splitting hairs, but I think DD has significantly more value than the 21st pick in this year's draft. Again, I would not let him be the holdup and maybe the extra 4 2nds would level it out a bit if he were the holdup, but I would try to push the 21st pick.

Dyson is easily worth a top-ten pick in this draft and maybe a top-five.

21 + 4 2nds I think would get you in the 10-14 range, which is about where I personally would put Dyson. I know alot is made about the quality of this draft, but 2-3 years from now we will all look back and have at least 5-10 guys we will kick ourselves for not drafting.

I don’t think Garlands value is super high, but also possible they’re not getting very good vibes from Mitchell on re-signing

Yeah this could be the case. The head coach search is taking a while too, wondering how much if any Mitchell has input on that now. Supposedly Mitchell didn’t like Bickerstaff at all.

By the way pels rumored to be interested in Mitchell as well but I doubt he has much interest in us.

Agreed, and I would not prepare a huge offer unless he is ready to extend.

Pipe dream, he’s not extending in New Orleans without ever playing here. Time to trade for him was years ago and Griff had the chance. Nobody here wanted him anyway when he was coming off the jazz. Not sure what changed.

Because he was incredibly expensive and would be a rental here.

We would have had him for at least 3 years under contract, that’s not a rental lol. And he wound have been making less than what CJ makes…

I have heard from a pretty damn good source that we love Sarr and we are trying to move up to the top 5 to get him.

Could be BS, but then again this is a Pelicans board on an awful LSU message board.

He would be a perfect fit next to Z. I think the price would be 3 1st's and a player. Depends on where he lands. If he falls to 3, I think it would be doable.

What, in 2027?

Sarr sucks right now. He's a pure projection pick and doesn't have an amazing upside.

He was in the shitty NBL and only got 9.4 points, 0.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. He has no range right now, either.
