He's literally perfect for this team and anyone who says yuck doesn't know shite.

He's low usage, takes 60% of his shots from 3, hits 38% of them. He also keeps Jrue from having to guard long wings that can shoot over him and wear him down on the defensive end. He's the same price as Solo and expires two years before we have to pay any rookies.

If Griff thinks this team is a playoff team, it's the perfect piece.

I don't think anyone is saying he's not a good fit, I think it's just the compensation that makes people hesitant.

Along with their next 7 years of control over their 1st round picks like we got with LA too right?

Go look at the Real +/- stat on ESPN for SF's. You'll see the regulars at the top most years, Lebron, Durant, Kawhi, and then there's this other fellar that hangs around with them, named Robert Covington.
Now what does that stat actually mean? i don't f'in know.

I've always been kind of skeptical of all those ESPN advanced stats. I'd say Covington is a good defender, but I don't think he's one of the better defenders in the league.

Everything is just speculation Lester. It was speculation in response to speculation.

Don't worry, I understand you're smarter than everyone.

Veteran who averaged 15 and 6 last year. Wouldn’t be bad if the Pelicans felt they would have their guy at 11.

MVP hold on a sec....Covington is absolutely one of the best defenders in the game. That being said the #11 scares me. Not sure I like it.

If we want a RoCo so bad, why not stay tight and draft Hunter who should have a higher ceiling, younger and can stay w zion for long time.

Draft Garland and then see how the chips fall. Teams sitting outside the top 8 may be very motivated to deal once their other targets are gone and then the Pels also know what targets are available.

Worst case scenario is you end up with a dynamic scorer that has All Star potential.

Toronto just showed everyone that depth wins a championship..

Toronto only played 8 guys pretty much the whole Finals. Depth is a bit overrated past the first 7-9 players..

Throw in a 2020 or 2021 1st round pick and I am good. You can even lottery protect in 2020 and then just top 8 protect in 2021, then top 4 protect after that.

You're right about this, but I think the "depth" thing he is referring to is the number of guys who had big games or big plays. Lowry, Van Vleet, Ibaka, Gasol, Siakam, Danny Green.

That's 6 guys who all had huge moments in the Finals. Outside of Jrue and AD the only guys who could do that for the pels would have been MAYBE E'twaun and Randle.

Not saying we should 100% go with RoCo over staying at 4 for Hunter, but the answer is because the odds of Hunter turning out to be as good as RoCo are not in our favor.

Exactly..

Get someone like Covington and you can have 7-8 guys who can all carry an offensive load for you on any given night when 1-2 guys are "off"

Zion
Jrue
Ingram
RCo
Wood
Okafor
Hart

New Orleans boss David Griffin trying to get another first-rounder and also a player on a good contract for the No. 4 pick. Told there have been discussions between Pels No. 4 pick and Minnesota involving No. 11 and Robert Covington.
I don't like it as much as the Myles Turner deal, but RoCo is solid. I'd be ok with this.

I know it's a risk and not a high probability but there is a part of me that wants to keep that #4 overall pick. You don't get many of those picks that high, and I do think it may be worth the risk to not add a guy like RoCo and take the chance on that #4 overall becoming an All Star level player. Again, not like a lot of posters we've seen lately who think top picks are guaranteed things, I know it's a long shot, but I may be willing to take that chance.

The Pels aren't a marquee free agent destination for All Star players, and this is our next best chance.
