The draft gets interesting now with this trade.
Murray is likely going to be the pick for Detroit now assuming Ivey goes 4th. Mathurin has a small chance of making it to 8 now.

Some of Portland's higher volume 3 point shooters from last year are gone in CJ, Covington and Powell. If they are trying to maximize Dame this year, I think Portland will trade back to add a vet and take one of the more NBA ready 3 & D Wings. We know from Jake Fisher they want Dort in a trade back. That still hopefully means Sharpe goes 7.

Hollinger says he's pretty sure Sharpe/Daniels are going 7/8 in some combo. Just a matter of what teams are picking there.
Great sport for us, imo, because i'd be happy with either guy.

Yeah the Dieng posturing feels like we are fishing for possible trade backs. He isn’t our guy at 8. He is our guy at 10 after Mathurin, Daniels, and Sochan fall.
I doubt we trade back but if we do I can’t see it being outside of the lottery. Wouldn’t want anyone else besides Dieng, AJ Griffin, Johnny Davis, and Malaki Branham in that 2nd group.

Still looks like shite for Portland imo.

If the Nets are going to lose Kyrie and Durant, a pick rich haul isn’t bad at all. And they might be able to talk OKC into giving them Giddey instead of 2-3 more picks.
Giddey and Banchero/Holgrem
Along with other young guns like Claxton, Cam Thomas, Dayron Sharpe
And the Nets would still technically have Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Joe Harris and Bruce Brown as vets and/or other trade bait to complete a rebuild.
Just spitballing. I would hate for OKC to all of a sudden have Shai and Durant and the assets to still get a 3rd star, but we have to be prepared for that possibility, bc they could technically outbid everyone and they have a previously solid relationship with Durant.

This year's 24 Green Room invitees ties an NBA Draft record from 2019. Very little certainty among teams picking outside the top-12 which players are going to be available when they're on the clock. One scout said there's 50 players who believe they're going in the first round...

Wonder who Toronto would want at 7?

You would think Dyson. That’s a Raptors guy if I ever saw one.

Maybe they pick the Canadian, Sharpe.
Hart + 7 for OG?
Portland goes with Dame Simmons OG Grant Nurkic

You think the Raptors have the patience for Sharpe? I don’t know. Maybe.
That Portland starting lineup is damn good imo.

Toronto seems like they could be in a similar situation to us where they won't need him produce right away. I do wonder how big a project teams see Sharpe as, though.
His game doesn't look any more raw than the rest of the top 10. Seems like because he sat the season out, people assume he's a raw prospect, but i'm not sure thats the case.

Mathurin, also Canadian

On that front, the Raptors do have an advantage in that Mathurin was in camp with the Canadian national team last summer when Raptors head coach Nick Nurse was wearing his Canada Basketball hat.
If there were an opportunity to make a move and Mathurin was available, the Raptors could act confidently. That’s not the case with Sharpe or any of the other top names in the draft.

He played against shitty competition in HS and then didn’t play in college. It’s likely he’s raw. Russillo compared his game to “Old Harden” today. So that’s something.
