The Los Angeles Lakers acquired Orlando's pick at No. 35 for a future second-round pick and cash, sources tell ESPN.
Hardy and Beauchamp are Klutch guys but probably gonna end up between 15-30. Christian Koloko will probably still be there though.

I wouldn’t melt, but I gotta be honest I would be pretty upset if we end up with Dieng at 8. If we moved to say 12 or 13, still a tad high for me but fine. But 8 is just a blatant reach imo.

Dieng will be gone by 12 or 13, it appears.

Sharpe’s odds at draft position are
O 7.5 -225
Under 7.5 +162
Daniels
O 7.5 +134
U 7.5 -180

Ben Simmons minus the attitude problems?

Yeah I'm not going to melt but I can't help but think this is inefficient allocation of resources. I mean the fact is that if we draft him at 8 over Sharpe, we're drafting for potential but picking a guy with possibly substantially less potential.
I guess it is possible that we worked him out and Vinson got to really see him up and close and gave the thumbs up. It really seems like his peak would be Brandon Ingram and I don't know how that fits with the actual Brandon Ingram in 2024.

He would be a horrific pick
Unfortunately griffins mouth is watering to pick him

I would be pretty upset with Dieng. He is so good at getting an open shot and not making it. He’s too skinny to defend and can’t put the ball in the goal. It’s a tough pill to swallow for a team trying to grab the cities attention next season.

Based on what?

The question is better served reversed. You would draft him based on what? We are talking about a top ten pick on a guy that hasn’t shown he can play basketball.

Go look at his weaknesses and his "strengths" are not a help for this team now or in the future.
I won't derail a good thread with my dislike of him but there's at least half a dozen more players that would make more sense.

I'm not a draft expert nor do I claim to be. I've watched some videos of these guys except for Sharpe who I have seen basically nothing of.
I like Dieng's size, ballhandling, demeanor and potential, but more importantly if the Pelicans like him, I have some level of trust and will give him a chance, and the same goes for most players.
I find it comical that anyone on here would have a REALLY strong negative opinion on a french 19 year old that played in the NBL.

There's a few things that would irritate me tonight.
1. not drafting Dyson Daniels if he is there at 8.
2. drafting Dieng or Sharpe at 8. i could get over these b/c i understand their potential, i just don't like the risk.
3. moving down for a 2nd pick or future pick, or moving down just to get off of DG, instead of moving down to grab a proven player.
4. to couple with the previous one, moving down to draft a big like Duren or Williams.

STRENGTHS: Perimeter skills, playmaking potential, vision/passing, can defend multiple positions

Hell, that would help us in the present if BI, Zion, CJ, and JV are all on the court.

I can live with pretty much any outcome as long as it's not dieng or a center.
And I don't even particularly care for Sharpe but could be talked into it.

I've seen some compare his game to BI, if he can get his shot to start falling.
Would 3 long forwards that can do a variety of things in BI, Dieng, and Trey not be helpful?
People are doing what they always do, getting very stuck on positions on players they really haven't watched much, if at all.
That player for me is Sharpe, who I see a lot of alarm bells going off on, but I just haven't watched him play, so I'm trying to be tempered in my approach with him.
