I will be pretty pissed if we take Mingo. I honestly think we have pretty much the same guy in Martez. Mingo seems to be extremely adeptat ssprint ting past everything.

Mingo will be a game changer at OLB. He's a freak. I want him even if that is what we have in tez
Pass rush pass rush pass rush
Pass rush pass rush pass rush

I'mall in for pass rush, I just don't really think Mingo is going to be very good at it. I see a career of getting dominated by NFL linemen.

Well everyone has their own opinion. I get excited just thinking about him playing for the saints. Part of that is imagining the saints playing a 3-4

Good to know Ansah showed out against some good talent. Gives us another option at 15. I think he goes earlier though

For sure. I'm no scout but my biggest issue with Mingo is that he always seems to just use his speed to run by the tackle. Seems like a lot of his bigger plays were the result of him pursuing a play that had already been misdirected from somewhere else on the line. In other words it's not like he was justbeating his dude 1 on 1 with a solid pass rush and getting to qb. Maybe he will excel at olb.

he'd be much better in space, which is where he would be in a 3-4. He can run by people more instead of trying to run through them

Check the Oregon tape. He's got a nasty spin move. Also hoping tez will flourish

I think Mingo has a ton more potential as far as run instincts than tez

Along with Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher, Ansah made the most money at this year's Senior Bowl.
Ansah didn't exactly have the best week of practice though. Most of the scouts are out of hear by Friday so I don't get this opinion at all. Nobody knocked his ability but there wasn't a buzz about him until he balled out during the game. I'd definitely want him over some of the others mentioned though.

While Ansahs play in the game is nice, the practices are really where the true evaluation is. It's pretty easy for defense, especially the lineman to dominate these games when these O-lines have never played together before.
If we pick him, I'll just have to trust the FO. But I would much rather a Mingo or Jordan. If Moore falls to us I'd be ecstatic as well, but that's doubtful

the O-line from the North team were the ones who stood out really during the practices. The talk show here had Phil Savage on and he singled them out. The lineman from Oklahoma and Fisher got a lot of praise, so did the center from Cal.
I think so.
Ansah played with his hand in the dirt all week but he played in a 3-4 defense at BYU. Not a huge difference but he had a bit of learning curve this week. He still made some plays in the team period at some of the practices too. The one-on-one drills is where he had kind of had a hard time.

This. His stock was falling. The game obviously saved him. He was very unimpressive during practice throughout the week.

Is there actually a chance mingo falls to 15?

You can add the Guard from Kentucky, too.
It'll be interesting to see what happens at the LT position. Will the Saints be able to resign Bushrod? Will the Saints sign a Vet to hold the position for a year or two, if Bushrod doesn't sign? If not, I wouldn't be shocked if they took Lane Bryant, LT, from Oklahoma. I think the pick will be on defense, but it'll be interesting to see what happens at the LT position.
Fisher locked himself up as a top 10 pick with the week he had at the senior bowl.
The good news about this draft is there's a lot of talent and depth at Pass Rushers, OL, and CBs. It's a good draft for Saints needs.

I doubt it, but there is a lot of time between now and the draft. The draft board will change so much from now till April. He would most likely have to have a mediocre to bad pro days and combines. Also, some offensive guys would have to sky rocket up draft boards w/ good pro days and combines.

yeah same here. A team like the Cardinals could very well take Fisher though. their o-line is garbage but then again, they don't have any good QB's either. There is always a few teams who have those surprise moments on draft day.

Just to add I think our 3rd round pick is: Leon McFadden, San Diego State, CB
Posted on 1/28/13 at 12:24 am to Meateye
the draft season is upon us
I know Lofton will be the starter at one of ILB spots but what about Vilma and Hawthorne? Vilma may not have liked the 3-4 in New York but he played it well... I don't know though man... I think he could be gone.
Hawthorne is really a big question mark to me. He's a good player but he wasn't playing in a position he was familiar with this past year and now we are running a 3-4? shite.
What about Alec Ogletree? Gyno brought him up earlier in the thread, I could get on board with that pick.
