Not trading him would be malpractice (i could stop right here because…saints)

We’re not good enough to justify holding on to him for some kind of playoff or championship push

Doubtful he’ll re-sign.

You have to at least entertain offers.

I think he would. And I think Mickey would give up the cash. I just don’t want him to.

I wouldn’t trade him for anything other than a second. Hes under contract next year, and that team could recoup a third comp pick if he performs well and leaves after. So why trade him for anything less?
Because that 3rd would be a year after he leaves and is not guaranteed.

Honestly, I’d be happy with a third. Whoever pays Olave a contract like Garrett Wilson’s will be making a huge mistake. We’ve waited forever for this guy to turn into a playmaker and he’s just not.

Sure he’s a good route runner but there’s more to being a good receiver and he fails at pretty much every other category. Get what we can get and get out

I wouldn’t trade him right now mainly because we are trying to develop 2 QBs. It would have to be for really good compensation for me to make that move. This offseason is a different story. Moving him and finding a replacement would be a priority.

What's Olave offering our young QBs that someone else can't? He's not making the tough catches. We've seen other teams' number 2 and 3 receivers play much better than him.

I mostly want him moved because he’s overrated and the thought of giving him a Garrett Wilson type contract makes me sick

If we know 31 other teams know. The Saints are doubtful to sign Olave to a second contract.
They are making offers and we are listening.
If and what we get just depends on a bidding war or one team who really wants him. People will freak out if the deadline passes but all that would tell us is the offers were terrible and we'll just keep him for now on his original contract.

Of course you don’t want to give him the Garrett Wilson contract, but he still has his 5th year and with our cap situation being clear we can actually use the franchise tag now also. Also I’m fine trading him also I just want to wait until the offseason unless the offer is good.

I agree with everything you say here. I’m just going off the number of targets Rattler has given Olave. Obviously his comfortable with him. I thought Rattler was flat out terrible last year and his improvements have come with his guys being here.

Pass game will be a mess if they trade him for sure. Hes got double the targets than the next guy, leads the team in first downs etc. There isn’t anyone to pick up that slack and it certainly would stunt Rattler or Shough’s growth

Kayshon Boutte 6th rounder outplayed Olave in the dome last week. If you can get a third for the guy you don’t think twice. He’s often hurt and never makes the tough catch.

Certainly some I suppose.
But could a argument be made it could make them improve anyway?
Trading away oline certainly could really hinder your ability to play and improve at qb. And getting rid of Olave will certainly effect winning. But they can still make that read and throw. They can still get rid quickly and avoid pressure. They can still make the right audible. Someone will play his spot. Not as good but the qbs still have to do the right things and that’s learning too.

Fair point. The offense will have to feature Shaheed. If you can get Jakobi Meyers for a mid round pick, he would be a good placeholder.

I want to trade them all I’m just not sure the fan base is prepared to weather the product on the field. There’s an argument to trading Olave and one for keeping him on the 5th year

If you trade Olave, remember shaheed is a FA. Your 2026 WR depth chart would sit Cooks, Polk, Vele, Palmer, Bub. What’s already a hole becomes a crater. You would have to dedicate a high pick and some money to begin rebuilding that position

This is by far the only reason not to do it.

Every other reason screams DO IT
