Heading into week 18... the Saints can finish 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in the division

Here's how those blanks would be filled in each case

If the Saints finish in 2nd (CAR beats TB, NO beats ATL):
Home vs. Chargers & 1 of Seahawks, 49ers, or Rams
Away vs. Cowboys

If the Saints finish in 3rd (TB beats CAR, NO beats ATL):
Home vs. Chiefs & 1 of 49ers or Rams
Away vs. 1 of Commanders or Giants

If the Saints finish in 4th (ATL beats NO):
Home vs. Raiders & Cardinals
Away vs. 1 of Commanders or Giants

Is this still accurate with ATL’s win against the rams?

1 small change... and it might not have been possible before b/c I didn't consider the NFC West tiebreakers

But no chance of seeing the Seahawks with a 3rd place finish in the South anymore

Other than that... yes it's still accurate

Saints can finish 2nd in Division with win and TB loss, right?

If so, that’s wild.

The loss today vs. Miami officially eliminated the Saints from playoff contention this season

So looking ahead... here's our 2026 opponents

Home:
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Green Bay Packers
Minnesota Vikings
Cleveland Browns
Pittsburgh Steelers
NFC West Same Place Finisher
AFC West Same Place Finisher

Away:
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Baltimore Ravens
Cincinnati Bengals
NFC East Same Place Finisher

That definetely is a tougher schedule than this year.

I don't see any Jets, Titans, Cardinals, or Giants on this schedule. With that being said if we do finish 4th in our division we will play Raiders, Giants, and Cardinals again. So if we do win and move up to 2nd or 3rd in our division you can throw those 3 teams i just mentioned out the window and replace them with much tougher teams

Finish last and we play Cardinals, Raiders, and Giants.

Thats much easier than finishing third and playing the chiefs, rams, and redskins.

Happy to lose next week.

Correct

3rd place and that's a brutal schedule because now you pick up Chiefs and Rams with the Redskins. All 3 have very good QB's

Tampa's win today officially ends the comeback dream of a 2nd place finish in the NFC South

So the Saints will finish either 3rd or 4th in the division depending on tomorrow's result

Entering Sunday...

A win over the Falcons completes our schedule with:
Chiefs & Rams coming to Superdome
Saints going to either Commanders or Giants

A loss or tie to the Falcons completes our schedule with:
Raiders & Cardinals coming to the Superdome
Saints going to either Commanders or Giants

I think this plays best for the organization to lose this last game.

Our opponents for 2026 are now finalized

OP updated

Cardinals & Raiders come to the Dome

Saints visit the Giants (Redskins swept the Giants this year so regardless of the WAS/PHI score we're going to NYG)

Green Bay/Pittsburgh- opposing fan takeover games.

Saints fans-Do NOT sell your tickets to opposing fans like you did for the 49er game this year. This is very important.

With that schedule, Shough is poised to rocket to a Drake Maye-like sophomore campaign if we can get him some playmakers.

Totally agreed, but hard to pass up some of the D talent that will be sitting there at 8.

The opponents are determined based on rules and are easy to figure out.
But is there some rule that determines home/away (besides the 17th game that rotates NFC one year and AFC the next)?
