He actually reminds me of a Jonathan Taylor. Tough runner. Elite speed. Similar build.

Only way a RB is worth pick 8 is if you are getting Robinson, Barkley, or McCaffrey.
Love is good, but a step below those three.

So your plan was to intentionally tank and NOT select a franchise QB at 40? Just roll out Rattler with no other options to develop?

Exactly why you were completely wrong to argue so adamantly against Shough in favor of other players
Yes, the qb class this year was suppose to be infinitely better. It just didn’t turn out that way. And yes Rattler and a cheap vet reclamation project to compete would have been my direction.
Teams have had success with that lately. Look at Darnold, Baker, Geno, Danny Dimes…
Mac Jones or Kenny Pickett etc.
No one knew Shough was going to be a franchise qb. I’m sure Loomis was praying. Tell me the list of 2nd round wbs that turned into frsnchise qbs over the years.

This is why the draft is a crapshoot. Going into the 2025-26 season, at least FIVE QBs were supposed to be franchise caliber.
Manning
Nuss
Allar
Klubnik
Potentially Lagway
Potentially Sellers
Not a single one right now worth a damn

Then kindly sit down and shut the frick up. Your opinion is worthless

He's a bigger, faster Brian Westbrook. His ceiling is a bigger, faster Marshall Faulk.

Jahmyr Gibbs = Jeremiah Love
Game breaking speed, good hands, great cuts, good vision, great balance. Game changers.

You’d be lucky to get a 5th for him. With his history of injuries, lazy routes and cowardly play, he is not going to pull much value
This was your opinion on Olave two months ago from the Olave trade thread just bumped, a season where he was named all pro, maybe you should take your own advice….

Everyone knew Manning was going back to school before the draft, so he’s off the board. And when Rattler or the vet plays well enough to put you at pick 5, what then? You would’ve missed on your tank mode QB anyway
Cheap reclamation project? So, it was a good idea to sign a reclamation QB (Darnold, Jones, Baker) for one year and if they play well, you’d have to pay them market value ($35mm) immediately. That would have been before we knew Carr was retiring, mind you, so now you’re paying two starting QB’s going into the draft.
You sure have a lot of revisionist history in your “calls”.
It was always the prudent move to select Shough and people complaining about it at the time were flat wrong

Wrong again. Archie said Manning would come back. But if he blew up, he still could have entered the draft.
And like the other poster behind me said, most experts had 4-5 qbs going in the first before the season. Nuss, Allar, Klubnik, Sellars, possibly Manning.
All regressed or didn’t play up to the previous years play. No one saw that coming, just like Mendozas ascension.
You tell me which has better odds, us getting a qb in the top 5 when there were 4-5 projected to go in the first, when we were viewed as having the worse roster in the league.
Or a 26 year old journeyman qb that didn’t dominate in college, (Kyle McCord and Kevin Jennings were voted on the all ACC team before him) and has a history of injuries hitting in the 2nd round. How many qbs of 32 are currently starting right now taken in the 2nd round? I think it’s one.
Kudos to Mickey, I figured there was maybe a 2% shot Shough would be a capable starter. I can’t say it was the prudent call, it was a big gamble but it has paid off as of right now.

Pretty sure Hurts (2nd round), Geno (2nd), Dak (4th) & Purdy (7th) were the only other projected 2025 starting QBs that were not 1st round picks. I feel like I am missing 1 somewhere, but don't feel like searching all 32 W1 starting lineups

Correct. It was. At the time I was correct. I’ve also pointed out that he has started playing with more confidence and without fear the last few weeks of the season.
To say he was not playing poorly prior to coming in strong down the stretch is as ignorant as saying what an awful pick it is to draft Shough in the second

Hell Olave said he almost quit. And most of us this year wanted him traded. Then he met Tyler Shough. A waste of a second rounder and things quickly changed. He makes around 15 mill under 5th year and can make around 25 mill under the tag?

We’re talking about the period after the season to draft day. Archie (and Arch) never made a comment until mid-summer, long after we selected Shough so you have to take a QB when you have the shot and who you evaluated highly.
Again, your plan would’ve required us to sign a free agent QB before Derek even retired. It doesn’t make sense
History of injuries?!

Lol. No you weren’t. You had the worst post in the entire thread. Missed the mark totally. Saying we’d be lucky to get a 5th rounder for a receiver that had an all pro year. And you didn’t say this before, in the offseason, you said this in October. During the middle of said all pro year.
Saying we should trade an all pro receiver for a bag of shite is on a completely different level than saying we reached a round or two early for one of the oldest qbs to enter the draft in years, with injury issues and who was just a mid qb in the ACC, which he was.
Like I said, maybe you should take your own advice instead of embarrassing yourself further….

History of injuries?! you mean broken bones that heal without any issue whatsoever? Dumb to even bring that up
Then tell the class why he was in college 7 years smartass? Was it because of injuries or not? Yes it’s so routine we have 26 year old quarterbacks in the draft yearly right? Why don’t you name them, I’ll wait.
And the Saints knew Carr was injured way before we found out but apparently you didn’t know that…

Geno won’t be starting this year, so three quarterbacks in the last ten to twelve years taken outside the first round will be starting. Three.
What’s the percentage of that? And yall act like Shough was some can’t miss prospect ? At least be honest and call it what it is, it was the Minneapolis Miracle version of a draft pick for Loomis.
