His contract restructure last season ties him to New Orleans at least through the 2025 season, likely 2026 as well.
Not that that's a bad thing but AK41 needs a robin to his batman at his age.

$19M in 2026 is just sitting there begging for a Loomis can kick to 2027 & 2028. You know it’s going to happen and like it.

Buddy just gave Saquon nearly 400 touches. Seems like a RB’s wet dream
Yea, but no. Kamara cannot even handle 300 touches. He gets hurt every single year with significantly less touches. Best we can hope for is to continue to build on the efficiency that Kubiak increased to in 2024 where Kamara saw his average yards per carry & reception both increase.
I love Kamara, he's done GREAT things for the community & has made GREAT plays throughout his career. But I do hesitate to include him in the list of GREAT players because he does not take over a game like other GREAT RBs do. Mickey Loomis screwed up on Kamara's contract last year just like he did Cam Jordan's the year prior, not only dumping big money but also slightly overpaying as well.
I fully understand that stats don't tell the whole story, but here are his stats from last 4 seasons & where he ranks amongst RBs in the league:
2024: 3 games missed. 296 touches for 1,493 scrimmage yds-11th & 8TD, 228car/950yds-19th (4.2avg/6TD) & 68rec/543yds-2nd 8.0avg/2TD)
2023: 4 games missed. 255 touches for 1,160 scrimmage yds-19th & 6TD, 180car/694yds-33rd (3.9avg/5TD) & 75rec/466yds-6th (6.2avg/1TD)
2022: 2 games missed. 280 touches for 1,387 scrimmage yds-11th & 4TD, 223car/897yds-20th (4.0avg/2TD) & 57rec/490yds-5th (8.6avg/2TD)
2021: 4 games missed. 287 touches for 1,337 scrimmage yds-7th & 9TD, 240car/898yds-14th (3.74avg/4TD) & 47rec/439yds-7th (9.3avg/5TD)
Last 4 years:
Rush: Average rank=21st, best 14th
Rec: Average rank= 5th, best 2nd
Total: Average rank=12th, best 2nd
Average of the rank averages is 12.6th, versus his average annual salary over those same years being 3rd highest. And his salary as it currently stands is 3rd-4th each of the next 3 seasons as well.
People complain about Carr's salary, I don't like it either, but at least his salary average is middle of the pack and so are his stats, so he's getting paid pretty much his exact market value.

So I know a lot of people are saying Kamara is done in New Orleans, or that he's washed up. I for one thought he was older, but Barkley is 28 and Kamara is 29. Does Kamara finish his career with the Saints, or move on and become rejuvenated like Barkley?
As long as you don't bash him into the middle of the line, Kamara can produce at a high rate for another 3-5 years.
You keep him.

If Kamara wants to leave for a team like Washington or Buffalo so he can try to get a Championship, I try to facilitate that trade.
If not, I’m good spreading his contract out a few years, and drafting a RB to start sharing the load. Much like Deuce and Reggie or Ingram and Kamara.
Cutting or trading doesn’t do a lot for us. Kamara is our best offensive player. Cap space doesn’t move the needle in this situation. You aren’t signing a better player for cheaper. We need to rebuild our lines through the draft to get under the cap. Cap space doesn’t get us 900 yards rushing, 500 yards receiving and 10 TDs.
Also, Kamara is one of the very few players you try to make a lifetime Saint and only cut or trade if they want it. Guys like Cam and Kamara earn it. Those players are few and far between, but he’s one of them.

Lots of dumb posts in this thread. Kamara isn't past his prime. He was heading for a career year. I'd like to see Kamara in Moore's scheme. I think he could bring back the early Kamara years.

I guess besides Cam Jordan, I feel like he would be one of the other guys that was SO close to getting a Superbowl. I agree with seeing what Moore can do with him. Who knows? Maybe he just needs a fresh start.

Good players deserve better than for the Saints to waste their career.

Kamara is a NO guy through and through. I’m pulling for him and don’t see any reason to not keep him at least one more season.
It’s a win win in my opinion. Nothing to lose really. We just extended him and let’s see if he can do what he does with a healthy line all year if we get lucky.
Everyone else can kick rocks but I’m pulling for him

Its time to get rid of Kamara
Extending him DURING the season was one of the dumbest things Loomis has done

I say move on. I’m tired of the Saints holding onto the players way past their Prime and us getting stuck with big contracts and low production later.
You are a bit late when it comes to Kamara. We just extended him.
