He addresses the Baun contract and said they tried to resign him and his decision to leave was based purely on usage. The guy responsible for that has been fired.

What we really need to do is move on from the Loomis era
All upvotes on this post and I 100% agree

Yet, in another thread people are ready to the throw parades at the idea of hiring Mike Mccarthy, one of the guys that helped kick off the "Loomis era"...25 years ago.

What questions did you think they should have asked that they didn't?

This board wants them to ask "Micky performance over the past three years has been a disaster do you feel that is your fault and when do you plan to commit Hari-Kari."

and those are the type we needed to trade for draft picks IF we did not want them anymore. loomis is a clown.

is he gonna let the new coach stay for 5 or 6 years so we can rebuild properly? or is he just gonna hire a placeholder and shite can him after 3 if we are ready then to contend? what a shitshow.

I’d be asking “Do you know how much you’ve fricked up the salary cap that’s set this organization back for years?”

While it would be funny to hear/see his reaction, the reality is he probably does not see it that way. Those salary cap sites can only report what information has been made publicly available to them. So many of these contracts have automatic triggers in them, that when we see $52M over the expected cap, Loomis probably sees the team being much closer due to the automatic triggers. Also, the following year's cap space is based off of an established formula in the CBA. As he VP/GM of the team, he would have insider knowledge of the next year's expected cap for each team and may be expecting a much bigger jump that these sites are predicting.

Cap went up $25.7M in 2022, $16.6M in 2023, $30.6M in 2024. 2025 is being predicted to go up $19.6M, but does this number include the contract change with Amazon, new contract with Netflix, other revenue streams...

I am not arguing that his position is correct, or that he has not F*ed up the cap. Just stating that he probably sees it a lot differently than we would since he has a lot more information at his disposal.

Where was he employed when the Saints won the Super Bowl?

So LSU should have kept Ed O then as coach.

Did he explain why the Saints can’t make the NFC playoffs the last four years being in, arguably, the weakest division in football.

Nola sports writers are weak and terrible at their jobs

No they aren't. If they actually did their job they wouldn't have a job. They have to play by the rules. That's how it is now. Every team deals with it the same way.

DA was a Loomis hire whom he vigorously defended even after the firing. The buck stops with Loomis.

He's not an idiot when it comes to managing an NFL team

Except that he is.

Just because you can finagle and get under the cap through various restructures doesn’t mean you should, your margins become razor thin and every miss in the draft and in FA is magnified. The roster is paper thin and lacks talent because of this. We haven’t been chasing championships for a while now, Mickey and co. have aiming for the middle and still failing.

No, all I’m saying is that it’s pretty illogical for people to blame him for the bad, but give him zero credit for the good

I also think it’s time for him to go, but people are so irrational about it

He is wrong with his choices for the Org. but no idiot. His wealth, power and status proves it. A different owner and more than likely a different Loomis. But we will never know for sure I guess.

Not if all the writers collaborated. You can’t have -0- at your press conferences.

Good luck with that. You know damn well you can't get everyone on the same page. You have those that brown nose and it'll always be that way.

Completely agree. The majority of Saints fans want the sunshine pumped up their arse and the ringleader Underhill consistently delivers.

Perhaps if had been a tad better at managing the Cap situation the team would have done better with the qb and coach the saints had.

1 superbowl 15 years ago doesn't really make up for the shite he has produced.

Are you saying Mickey is being unfairly evaluated relative to Rattler

No, I'm saying let's not pick and choose who gets a pass for failure. Tons of people acting like Rattler's greatness is only being held back due to injuries but nobody else gets the same pass evidently. But hey, I'm sure y'all are all ex GMs of professional football teams and know exactly how to fix the problem.
