Interesting, it may make sense for both parties to give him an extra year or so and convert some of the numbers into bonus I guess?

This a good trade for a very reliable DT that fits our new scheme.

He’s averaging 60 tackles/25 solo approx over past four years.

Yeah this is a solid move and a good use of late round picks.

Acquire solid vets that fit your system. I think we may see a few FA moves that don't blow anyone away but are guys that actually fit what we do and are solid vets

Short of Godchaux being injured in training camp and a team getting a unicorn 7th-round pick next season, he is a better value than any 7th-rounder that will come out of next year's draft.

The odds are definitely against it, but you can’t know that.

The saints all time receiver was picked in the 7th.
San Fran just picked their franchise qb in the 7th.

So the unicorns. You can't make decisions based on the hope of a unicorn but I'm not clairvoyant so we're back to he is a better value than any 7th-round pick is likely to be.

I think it’s a solid trade. Much rather give up 7ths. Loomis normally just gives away our high picks, so this is a step up.

Plus we basically getting him for half price. Patriots paid half is salary in the signing bonus. He was pretty good with Miami. Didn’t watch NE much so I’m not sure what he looked like with them.

Would he really fit into the culture of the locker room if he's the only 30 year old without a ton of void years. Let's turn that $4M salary & $1M in bonuses into a $1.5M salary and $3.5M bonus so we can add 3 void years between 2027-2029.

Solid run stopper.

Guess one or both of Shepherd and Saunders will be gone soon.

As they should be
Both were huge misses.

Its definitely a good solid deal

He's a starter in base packages, good run stuffer at NT, exactly what we need.

I know he had as many snaps as Sanders but Khalen seemed to make the splash plays.

Godchaux is under contract for the next two seasons but can be released next offseason for a cap savings of $8.5 million if the Saints don’t want to pay him beyond 2025.

So he cost 4.5 this yr. Sounds like they will rework his deal. Either way be shouldn't cost much as a run stuffer. I like this move. He has 123 tackles the last 2 Years. Will help in the run game. Great move.

It also needs to be considered that he is getting to come home and finish his career. That should light a nice fire for him.
