Saints Camp Day 5 Recap: First Padded Practice Brings Clarity in the Trenches

Pads are on—and the position battles are heating up. From Kelvin Banks pancaking a defender to Kendre Miller making defenders miss, the Saints are starting to show who’s ready to rise.

Rookie LT Kelvin Banks pancaked Chris Rumph
Kendre Miller had his best day yet—fluid, elusive, decisive
Rattler: 8/13 with a dime to Shaheed
Shough: 8/11 but still throwing off his back foot
Haener: 4/7 with chunk plays to Tipton and Dixon
Stutsman took solo LB reps in the “penny” front
Blackmon appears to be locking down a starting safety spot
Grupe stays hot: 5/5 FG (14/15 in camp)

Isaiah Foskey continues to disappoint
Davon Godchaux, Kendre Miller stock rising fast

Isaiah Foskey – It’s been a disappointing camp for the third-year edge rusher. He was invisible again during 1-on-1s, and the pressure from others is only increasing

Looks like Fosky gets cut this year. So many talented players we passed on for him.

I thought for sure that pick would be Brian Branch. But whatever, nothing we can do about it now

What are the incompletes primarily due to? Bad passes, drops, pressure, etc?

He’s a dud for sure. If you go look at that 2nd round in the 23’ draft it is filled with bad picks. Unfortunately though, the saints didn’t and don’t have much room for 2nd round picks to flop.

was it ever leaked who pounded the table for him?

I want to know if that was really an "everyone is all in pick" Scouting, coaching, and administrators.

Because if not then what the frick are they doing?

I said it over and over in the draft threads he shoujd have been the pick. Our scouts care more about RAS scores than watching actual film of these players.

If we had to go DE, keion white should have been the pick. I thought he was the better player.

Think Devon Achane was the better pick?

This is true. I've said it many times on here.

I questioned Jeff Ireland and his ras way of picking players and of course people just blindly defended him.

I mean, the eagles draft heavily on RAS too. It’s just about picking the right players.

Our 2025 draft was squarely middle of the pack based on ras if that makes you feel better

And actually developing the players. The Saints seem to really overestimate their ability to develop players; almost comically so for some positions.

If Miller can stay healthy.....it may be an interesting year at the RB position. If he gets hurt again, I can't see keeping him any longer.
