If Stupar is cut, you've also got Bighill in there that was pretty good potential wise and had many excited to replace him.

You’re hard pressed to find LBs that excel in run and pass. It’s usually one or the other. Wagner, Kuechly, Deion Jones are the only ones that come to mind

Debo finished with a 47 Run Defense grade last year so he doesnt excel in run defense, but hes the best in the league against the pass.

Demario Davis was an 87 against the run and an 80 against the pass. Just about as close to a well rounded LB as youll find if he keeps up the pace.

Dude is a very good LB. it’s a big upgrade for us.

We are better on defense today.

I agree with you and I know what you really meant was we need a legit interior D-Lineman or DT. Otherwise, Cam might have something to say about it lol...

I'm assuming this means that Klein will play OLB.

He already was for the most part. He was playing Sam.

This move pretty much says Klein didn't work out like they thought. I expect him to be cut next year.

That was the one move I didn't like last year though I was willing to be patient. He played better than I thought, but only about as well as a slightly better Lofton.

I think this makes his move to Sam permanent, and Te'o will be backing up Davis at Mike. Anzalone will stay at Will and Robertson will move wherever needed.

I'm still not opposed to drafting a cover OLB on top of this. LB has been our biggest weakness since losing Vilma (and really since Fujita left).

If you can't cover backs and TEs with your LBs you are fricked in this league.

Can’t count on Anzalone. That’s why I think Klein sticks for a while.

Robertson cut saves 1.6
Te'o cut/trade saves 2.5

Stoop kid can go. The other two are great depth and we know how we like to fill IR.

Klein plays Sam and isn't quick enough to play Will. Hell he was barely quick enough to adequately play Mike.

Robertson is the guys that will mostly rotate with Anzalone. At least they can both cover decently.

turn the tide to Okafor now. We have built this D, you are last piece.

Are people still not getting that Okafor had a major injury and isn't close to being ready to play, if he ever fully recovers at all? Achilles are about the worst injury you can get in football. Worse than most major knee injuries.

I just hope by summer he is ready to go and we should be able to get him cheap by then.

I’m talking just in terms of bodies at LB. I’m afraid Anzalone will always be in and out.

if anything you cut Klein, he was not good last year and would save $6 mil or so on the cap this season

Are you sure that's correct? If so then I'm all about moving on from Klein. I thought it'd be more of a break even savings which wouldn't be worth it, though I haven't checked myself.

Edit:
Okay so that's not true. He costs $1.5 mil cap to cut now, and he only saves 500k if cut June 1st. So no we need to keep him one more year.

Klein is definitely the player in the most danger. Only saves $4.1m this season (as a post 6/1 cut, with $2m dead in 2019) or $2.1m if we don't count him as a post 6/1 cut (no dead money next year).

Where are you guys getting these numbers on Klein? Otc has WAY different numbers.

Edit:
Nevermind. I see this has been discussed. Spotrac can be really shitty at times, which is why I rarely rely on them.

We still sorely need some athleticism there. I’d still like to spend our first round pick on a LB

Davis will be 31 years old at the very end of this contract...age is not an issue here.

...could turn 32 in the playoffs in 2021.

Exactly. Hes also a relatively low wear and tear ilb too.

Top 5 lbers: Davis, Klein, Robertson, Anzalone, Te'o good. Depth, youth, and veteran. Good mix.

Guess it depends who is better player at lb vs DE. I think end a larger need at this point.
