were you melting about the prospect of taking Mahomes at 11 in 17?
The majority on this board had a shite fit about the possibility of taking Mahomes back in 2017. I remember Lester & Meateye being two posters who were very open to the idea.
Even after the Lattimore pick was made, there were many who thanked KC for trading up to get Mahomes & said the Chiefs "saved" Sean Payton from himself.
8 years later, Mahomes has played in 5 Super Bowls & won 3. After a great start to his career, Lattimore became injury prone. He now appears to be on the downside of his career while Mahomes is just reaching his prime which leads me to the most important aspect of possibly hitting on a 1st round QB. It sets the franchise up at the most important position for the next 15-20 years. The majority of guys won't have that long of an impact. Just look at Lattimore & Ram who were in that same 2017 draft class.

Caught just a little of Cam Ward’s pro day on NFL Network. He didn’t look like a can’t miss top prospect from what I saw. Good arm and decent touch. But I didn’t find him that accurate playing against air.
QB is the hardest to project. Hell, it’s damn near impossible. But I think Sanders is the best prospect in this draft. Not the most talented, but he is accurate and throws with anticipation. Only downside is the attention and circus he brings with him.
Cam Ward seems like a talented guy, but I think he’s closer to EJ Manual or Geno Smith than Josh Allen or Mahomes.
Dart seems like a huge reach. I’ve never been that impressed with him and he just seems like a better version of Matt Corral.
This is the draft to load up on solid players at positions you can build around. OL, DL, LB, RB, S and CB. Load up and fix the team. Don’t take the Cleveland Brown route of think a QB can fix all ills.

Shedeur worked with Tom Brady coming out of high school.
Also, I don't think many even realize that the last two seasons that Shedeur played under for NFL HC & offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Sanders is probably the most pro ready QB in the draft.

Cam Ward seems like a talented guy,
Ward was a zero star coming out of high school so scouting didn't see very much talent there in the very beginning. That's what gets you starting out at Incarnate Word. For him to start out there to Washington St & finish out at Miami shows the type of work ethic he has. He's also a fierce competitor.
quote:
Washington State quarterback Cameron Ward is fiercely competitive. Indeed, the Wards and their four children are all hugely competitive, Cameron's parents -- mom Patrice and dad Calvin -- told Cougfan.com earlier this spring. A casual family game of Monopoly at the Ward's house? No such thing. More like a high-stakes, deadly serious event where just about anything goes.
Monopoly, card games, sports; you name it -- Patrice says you always need to have eyes on the participants.
“Cameron and I, we’re both competitive – our whole family is competitive,” said Patrice, as Calvin laughed. “We play family games all the time. But (sometimes) we stop playing family games because we get mad at each other, somebody would try to cheat at Monopoly -- everybody is so competitive they want to win so bad.
quote:
COUGFAN.com: What's a good youth sports story on Cameron?
Patrice Ward: I think what made Cameron what he is today, when he (began playing AAU as a freshman) in basketball, he was just as good as anyone on the team but they didn’t start him, he was coming off the bench. And I think it made him realize hey, everything isn’t fair but I have to work hard and prove who I am, and I’m going to do what I have to do to get there. And he’s been like that ever since.

It is but one thing I've noticed over the years is that the biggest mistake gets made when character & intangibles get overlooked. For the QB position more than any other position certain characteristics & intangibles mean more than physical abilities.

Judging by your post you're the dumbfrick.

Dude literally walked out on his team at halftime in a Bowl game ....no thanks he's obviously got character issues I'd rather Carr than this overrated mental case

Jeff Darlington was on the radio this morning and was talking about how the NFL and scouts view Ward and Sanders. He said they see Sanders and the other QBs as a tier below Ward. Thought that was interesting.
I really like Sanders anticipation and accuracy. I think that is what guys like Brees even if he wasn’t the most physically talented guy. But I agree, Brees’ character and competitiveness brought that up to a different level.

It’s time for people to accept that bowls are meaningless exhibition games.
Jayden Daniels didn’t play in the bowl, Chase opted out the entire season both seem to doing just fine in the NFL

Malik Nabers did the exact same thing as Cam Ward. Played just a half of a bowl game. Neither could have played at all. Some people just always have something to bitch about.

I don't know what's worse not playing at all or playing and then quitting at halftime. Both are lame if bowls are meaningless stop having them. You think Tom Brady or Drew Brees would have walked out on their team no this dude is obviously big headed and thinks he's better than he is no thank you he's not even that good

I think the Saints would like to trade up for him.
But I don’t think it happens. Titans will stand pat and take him even if the Saints offered 1st and a 3rd this year and next + Olave. I think they only move off the number 1 for 3 firsts. And I don’t think anyone is desperate enough to do that for Cam Ward. Maybe for a Luck.

Like Ditka did for Rickey Williams? I don’t think so.

For better or worse they were in bowls over two decades ago. Nobody “walked out” on bowl games then.

Stop yelling at clouds gramps the only people who care are people like you that have absolutely nothing to do with it I bet without looking it up you could not tell me what bowl Miami played in last year. Their teammates don’t care, the pros do care why do you?

They are exhibitions really always were but now the purpose is basically as content for ESPN and gambling err I mean “tradition”

Putting aside it was a quarter century ago when those guys were in college Bowls especially the Rose and Orange bowls still carried prestige. Brees had Purdue in the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1967. For B1G teams back then making the Rose Bowl was the goal. Brady was a 6th round pick. When he played in the Orange Bowl there was no guarantee he’d be drafted He needed all the extra tape he could get. Players with 6th round grades now would play in bowls. Ward was projected as a top pick when the bowl no one remembers was played
