He has a better chance in owning the Seahawks than the Saints. Gail inherited the Saints and Pels and she's never going to sell it.

this is from 9/25. its not unreasonable to think she could outlive many of the male owners close to her age.

I'm just pointing out that at some point, she won't own the teams.

Graves just has to have some patience, and probably negotiate with Lauscha a bit to let him buy in at a minority level

i'm just adding information as it relates to her age. her problem of age is in a group of at least 10-12 other owners around same age.

Need him to buy both franchises. Pels are fricked as long as Gayle is running the show.

He can relocate the Pels for all I care. Just run the Saints organization well.

From what I heard, the will states that once Gayle passes, Loomis and Team President are responsible to sale team to owners that will no relocate team

Assuming that the estate has been closed, and Gayle has full control she would no longer be bound by any "clauses" Benson may have put into the will regarding his wishes on how she should handle the businesses. And while the intent may be for Dennis & Mickey to handle the sale process once Gayle passes away, that can chance with a single stroke of a pen at any moment.

And, once the team is sold to a new owner, they would not be subjected to any restrictions about how to run the team that the previous owners/administrators put in place. In other words, they could buy it tomorrow, then go in front of the owner's and make a request to move the team to a new city, regardless of what Gayle, Mickey, or Dennis put in a contract.

this is the best news possible for the Saints. Now let's get a new arena and get the Pelicans a great owner.

I hope that is many years from now foe LSU's sake because I understand there are NIL restrictions on NFL owners.

But more importantly, would he still be able to buy jello shots at Rocco's during the CWS?

And the NFL has told her as such. The NFL exerts pressure on any arm's length sale of a franchise now to go to open bidding, where basically only the mega mega billionaires of the world can win the bidding war to buy into the club. The NFL wants more and more of the absolutely wealthiest people in the world to be in their cartel to continue to exert their power.

However, if gayle is able to take a long period of time and do something like make Graves a minority owner years ahead of time, it's no longer considered an arms length sale and she can more easily do what she wants.

Graves isn't an idiot and doesn't want to be completely hated by the state that started his billions. He wants to stay on good terms with LSU, New Orleans, etc.

Used to care about the Pels as well as the Saints but the Zion era has broken me. I would be happy to trade them for a hockey team.

How much "patience" he would need is really up in the air though. Benson is 79, but as far as anyone knows is in very good health. She's at an age where she could die next week or live another 20 years and neither outcome would be particularly shocking.

In a perfect world she would allow Graves to buy in as a minority owner with first right of refusal to buy the rest after she passes, but I'm not sure I see that happening. She doesn't need the money and as much as I hate to be a cynical sonofabitch I'd see Lauscha advising her against it (and she apparently listens to him all on things financially related to the team). Lauscha is essentially the de facto owner of the team at this point, at least on the financial side. Bringing in Graves, even as a minority owner, brings another voice into the room. Why would he recommend that his influence be diluted when he can keep the status quo?

Honestly, I can only imagine the Game of Thrones type shite that's going on behind the scenes with Gayle. A multi-billionaire heiress that doesn't know what she's doing and has no heirs to leave her fortune to after she's gone? That's just too much money floating around in the air for there not to be major chicanery over people trying to grab pieces of it.
