We actually used motion on Offense.

Saints were dead last I believe in motion under Carmichael and Allen.

I don't think people realize exactly how bad it was and how far in last place we were with motion, pre snap adjustments, etc. on offense. I think we were last in those metrics separately and as a whole iirc.
Quick browsing says we were dead last in motion and play action for sure, but I believe we were also last in some other metrics iirc.

31 teams are very upset the Saints have moved on from a 20 year old offense to something new from the youngest kid around lol

Well with Kubiak we were turning it around as well, until everyone got hurt. But under Carmichael it was a nightmare.

Saints ran presnap motion 21% of the time last year, Philly was at 22%

Which is crazy when you think about because these are aspects schematically that can be used to help a QB pre snap especially young QBs. Motion allows a QB to get a pre snap dictator of coverage. Play action can help slow down pass rush just a step & allow the ability to get LBs & safeties a a step or two out of position.

And against a good defense, the jet sweep is about as successful as DA's playoffs performances.

What was the percentage pre-DA firing vs Post?

Carmichael just continue what he/they did under Payton..
Payton rarely used motion because by the time he got the play call in there was 4 seconds left. That plus Drew needed the ability to check into audible when he felt like it.
Worked OK with a hall-of-fame QB. Somehow, that didn't translate to Jameis Winston or Spencer Rattler.

I edited, those numbers are just from motion at the snap
Kellen Moore as OC, motion/shift rate
2021: 39.1%
2022: 43.8%
2023: 59.6%
2024: 52.9%
The Saints ranked last in motion/shift rate in 2022 (15.2%) and 2023 (24.3%)

That seems a lot more accurate. It was laughable how little we did pre-snap

Kubiak was tracking to have the highest rate of presnap motion ever last year before all the injuries hit. But it obviously helped the offense tremendously
Moore also ramped up Philly’s motion big time when he took over
