Well, if I am wrong, then it was premium price the Saints paid for Teddy. Hopefully I am wrong and the Saints resign Teddy and he becomes a successful QB. His stats with the Vikings are not that impressive.

Yes, that is the case. The trade deadline is past, and Teddy only had a 1 year deal. He will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

I find it to be highly unlikely he resigns, the media has been playing up his value on the market. He will get starter money. Best case scenario (on the keeping Bridgewater front, not overall) is Brees retires and Teddy resigns before hitting the open market. Even then, I doubt he would sign before that. He will want to get to FA and create a bidding war. It is highly likely we will lose him no matter what. We could keep him with the franchise tag in that situation, but that seems extreme...

The positive is, unless we re-sign a player of equivalent value (highly unlikely) we will most likely be awarded a compensatory pick in the 2020 draft in exchange, and based on the money he is expected to get, it will likely be a 3rd round pick

I think TB could be our next QB. Just not sure how this contract goes down if Brees comes back after the Super Bowl win.

Would basically require him to decide to stay here for less money just for a chance to be our QB when Brees retires, which is not guaranteed to be one year. I feel like it would be irresponsible on his part to do that since he can likely get 20m+ on the open market this offseason

Laman and Tigerbait. You two are miserable people. I'm posting that's all. Don't really care for your attacks. I'm a Saints fan since John Gilliam ran back the kickoff, and pull for our team every week. It's only an opinion you two fools.

I think that is the way it would go down, next year light, guaranteed back, maybe a bonus next year

If he's a free agent then it my opinion the Saints should have traded him before the deadline. BYEEEEEEEEEE

He was always going to be a one-season insurance policy in case Drew went down. You don’t acquire those and then trade them halfway thru the season.

Come on, man . This has to be a troll.

My big concern was that Payton would still want to call a great game, and Teddy would ball out. And then the Giants or Jaguars would out-bid us.

Taysom is not the next QB, unless we're going interim and plan on tanking for a top 5 pick. But he's also a whole lot more integral to the game plan this season, including this playoff season; so I knew he wasn't going to get exposed too much.
For what it's worth, I doubt Hill plays that big a part next year, I think it's wearing off.

So if Teddy signs as a FA elsewhere, would the NFL award us a compensatory pick for him leaving?

Well you’re a moron, because he has zero trade value since he is a free agent after the season is over.

Afraid that he would play poorly, and that would cost the Saints in trade value.
