Crashing into a lake and sinking at night gives me the extreme willies at the mere thought of it.
Unless you are put in that situation, you have no idea how'd you react, or panic.
Forget about the potential alcohol asoect, just think about crashing into a lake and before you know it, water is all around you and you probably have very little if any light available to see and you'll have no idea of which way is up.

They'll work, of course, but an auto punch is the better option for smaller people, most women, or older folks. You don't have to worry with having to swing anything in a confined space while in a panic. I keep an automatic center punch in my console for that reason. It is just easier to use. Someone actually makes a knife with a spring loaded punch that has the seat belt cutter, too.

You can use a removable headrest to break a window.

I've never been to that area around the Truckee but it looks insanely beautiful out there. The lake the girl drove off into looks amazing judging from the summer pics. Sad story obviously, but I followed along this story and that was a take-away.

When I was 22, I had a dumbass ex girlfriend almost drive us off a lifted one side drawbridge at night because the flashing light was out and she couldn't believe that was a possibility. She was from the west coast and drove horribly.

Eta

Id have left her in the car as I made my escape.

Love Adventures with Purpose Channel. Such good and well produced content. Wish they would put put more search videos as ive watched all their "found" videos

Exploring With Nug works with them sometimes and he also has a good channel. He even posts videos about weird things he finds or even valuables!

Adventures With Purpose has a livestream scheduled for 11 am Central about finding Rodni on YouTube.

The most likely scenario is that while impaired she drove into a body of water or off a cliff and just has not been found yet

I'd bet this is the answer to a lot of missing persons cases. It makes the most sense in a lot of these cases where someone and their car just disappear off the face of the earth.

Yeah and wooded areas as well. The team that found Rodni was searching for an elderly woman in local bodies of water and didn’t find her in any but then not long after that a hunter found her car and remains in a wooded area off the road where she vanished.

She wasn’t supposed to be on that road and obviously experienced some sort of mental or medical episode and got lost. They said it appeared like she just kept driving a bit in the woods until her car finally got stuck. Then the poor lady got out of it and died near the vehicle.

Looks like she just got disoriented driving under the influence and drove off down a "boat ramp".

Looked at the map of the campground and like most there are tons of turns and loops that probably aren't marked super well. Probably just turned the wrong way and ended up in the water.

My money is on she drove off into the lake and they just haven’t found her yet. She got drunk and told friends she was gonna stay, then snuck off to drive home (why no one saw her leave) so she wouldn’t get in trouble

Really hate that it ended up this way. It’s a tough thing to teach your kids about responsibility vs getting in trouble. My father did the best he could and I think there’s times where I’m lucky to be alive. Just hope that I can stress to my children the importance of responsibility, safety vs being in trouble.

My kids will always know, no matter the situation, location or hour of day, I will come get them. Just hope they use it

I used to live next to a community that had a big pond out front. One morning some older dude went off the road, jumped the bank of the pond like a ramp and went sailing into the middle of the pond, Dukes of Hazzard style. Someone called 911 but he was dead by the time they got the car pulled out.

This happened less than 10 minutes after I drove by the pond. I often wondered what I would have done if I was there at the exact moment he went off the road. It was mid-February and very cold. I like to think I would have dove in and tried to save him but there are a lot of hazzards in that scenario, and probably a low probability that I would be able to locate the car in deep, murky water, break a window. undo a seatbelt and extract the driver before he drowned.
