Entergy doesn’t serve that part of the state.

That's SWEPCO, but they're all part of MISO so it's all a connected grid.

That said, electricity trading is not remotely in my wheelhouse, so I'm not going to try to figure out how SWEPCO costs impact Entergy costs.

That is cheap. All the landowners around the Meta site in Holly Ridge have their land listed for sale at $40,000 per acre.

Why are they ruining our state?

Are they though?

Right now, there are around 18 to 21 billion IoT devices in use, and by 2040 that number could grow to more than 50 billion. These devices are everywhere, from smart appliances and wearables in our homes to health monitors in hospitals, connected cars on the roads, sensors in factories, smart city infrastructure, and even equipment on farms. They generate enormous amounts of data every second. Data centers are needed for this.

And the public will be forced to carry the cost of running these centers through their electricity bills, not the corporations building them.

All while bringing in few jobs for the areas.

Seems super beneficial.

La is going to end up with electrical rates on par with Hawaii and even worse water by the time this is done.

Is that true? Half the people say it’s going to create good jobs and other half say it doesn’t and will make electricity cost rise. Everything is so damn political I don’t know what to believe.

The highest number of long term jobs that will be generated STATEWIDE is ~150, based on the higher end of average number of employees for data centers.

Once built, they on average do not generate many jobs.

Economic studies suggest that for every 1 direct job in a data center, 3 to 5 indirect jobs may be created in the surrounding community and supply chain.

Cooper had several data firms in Covington last month looking at a site on Lee Rd north of Covington. Transmission lines already cross the property for them to tap into.

I really wish the state AG would look into Cooper's bank accounts because that mother fricker is pocketing a lot of cash at the expense of rural St Tammany.

We have some of the highest sales taxes and insurance rates in the America so why not add highest utilities rates too?

Retail electrical rates will 100% go up. Commercial PPAs rates are always subsidized by retail rates, they just usually aren't as lopsided as these because of the magnitude and consumption profile. Then when the PPA contracts are hidden from public review it leaves only one conclusion.

Based on the information released by groups who support the building of these centers.

The number of staff pretty much every site references is between 8 and 50, depending solely on size (MW) of the data center.

I gave the 3 centers the max size output and the average staffing.

That would be ~150 jobs statewide.

These data centers will be smaller than that though, so it will be less than 150 in reality.

In all honesty, I have zero issue with the building of these centers IF you can guarantee that they will not increase the electricity bill of the surrounding citizens.
