Blast waves cause damage by a combination of the significant compression of the air in front of the wave (forming a shock front) and the subsequent wind that follows. A blast wave travels faster than the speed of sound and the passage of the shock wave usually lasts only a few milliseconds.

Meant more shockwave distance and not timing.

I know that it shook our house in Central which was about 6 miles from Exxon as the crow flies. I'd guess that BR country club is a pretty similar distance away without looking it up?

You’d never even know there was an explosion by that picture.

Just suprised the pressure shockwave was still that strong at that distance.

Not surprised the soundwaves were able to shake homes.

We lived near Monterrey Blvd and Greenwell Springs. Me and my two brothers were listening to the Saints vs Colts game on WJBO — it was blacked out locally. The radio signal went fuzzy for a few seconds and then we heard a rumble that sounded like someone ran across our rooftop.

We ran out into the cold in our t-shirts to see if someone was on the roof and watched all the neighbors start coming outside to investigate. It was an odd experience.

I was at my aunt’s home in St.Amant. The explosion rocked the house some 25 miles away. My cousin was in his truck driving to the house. He felt the sound waves vibrate his vehicle. Cousin worked for a milk plant near florida and north foster in BR. He thought his plant blew up.

That was a pretty big news day. There was also the good Mayor Morial dying and the invasion of Panama.

I was 11 and I remember distinctly playing Metal Gear on NES and the house shook. Everyone on the block went outside staring at each like WTF

He definitely had a difficult presidency with 9/11, the great recession and Katrina but he just used those tragedies to grow government and further restrict our liberties.

I remember that happening. I was on the way to the saints colts game. My dad pointed out that the refinery was flaring and it wasn't good. Sure enough it had exploded during the game and we saw the smoke and fire on the way home. Crazy he called it.

We’d just buried my Dad a couple of days before Christmas of ‘89 during that massive cold spell.

We had to, he was dead you see.

Was Journeys with Howard Stern managing up and running by '89?

I know Sneakers near the corn dog stand was a few years away from getting their full sized replica of Shaq's shoe to pair with the pop a shot and No Fear t shirts.
