30A has been taken over by an alligator infestation. It’s bad.

You other non Florida SEC state school fans and Yankees should just go to Mexico until Florida can get it under control.

It’s going to take between 10-15 years.

Try Mexico resorts in the mean time. It would be terrible if you all just decided that Mexico was your preferred vacation spot. What will be will be though.

I'm a fan of the Navarre area. Pretty enough water and a lot less people. 4 hour drive and close to Pensacola.

navarre is actually my favorite place to go out of all of them along the bama/florida coast

30A has some of the prettiest beaches on the planet. Much prettier than any place you just mentioned. And you're certainly not getting away from rednecks trash by going to Cancun or Cozumel. I don't know much about Isla majeures but I here Tulum is nice.

This is correct. I've been to several areas of the Caribbean. They each had their own area of beauty to offer. weather it be from snorkeling, diving or the jungle. None of them had beaches as good as the 30A area of Florida.

yeah. the only thing lamer than disparaging 30a as someone's vacation destination is being a holier-than-thou douche who thinks not wanting to vacation in 30a means you can't afford it.

Santa Rosa Beach’s first McDonald’s opened today (I think).

It’s over.

My spouse and I have visited 30A since the mid-nineties. Our experiences then were nothing short of magical. The sense of community there was delightful. Locals and visitors seemed to realize that they were participating in something special. That specialness sadly seeped away as the area was “discovered,” monetized to within an inch of its life, and became seriously overcrowded. On our most recent visit, the delightful community we once enjoyed was hard to discern, replaced by jostling crowds, sneering teens, supercilious salespeople, and haughty waitstaff. 30A - or at least Seaside - has become a victim of its own success.

This.

It became a status symbol.

When something becomes a “common” status symbol, it has been overtaken and no longer special.

Your 30A photo pictures a dune lake outflow. You know that and are deliberately misrepresenting the area.

Surprised you didn’t choose sargassum instead.

The area is beautiful, but some of the people who vacation here are trashy, especially during spring break.

Navarre beach is nice that the have beach accesses with parking at regular intervals down the beach. And they don't have the private beach issue that SoWalton does.

And if you go just a few miles west, it's the Gulf Islands National Seashore with several beach accesses and no residences/condos for 10 miles until you hit Portofino at Pcola Beach.

A lot of locations around there have some cool old school vibes too.

So does 30A have more traffic than Destin? One of the main reasons I quit going to Destin in the Summer was the damn traffic. You are literally in a parking lot in the afternoons. Also kinda curious about Panama City? It seems people just stop at 30A now and go no further. I never hear an adult past 30 talk about that place.

Speed limits on 30A range from 25-35mph and many people use electric golfcarts (low speed vehicles that top out at 22-25mph). There are few exit roads to Hwy 98 so sometimes traffic comes to a standstill too.

30A isn't a 3 hour drive from anywhere in south LA. 3 hours gets you from Mandeville to Gulf Shores/OB. It's more like 5 hours from Nola to 30A
