I used to go to the Bahamas and Caribbean a lot when I lived just outside of the ATL. It's really easy to fly Delta out of the ATL airport to almost anywhere. The thing I like about he Florida panhandle is that it is easy to meet up with friends and family there.

Show me a beach nicer than North Beach, IM.

I'll wait.

You can fly to Cancun and rent a house on the beach in Puerto Morelos for 1/2 the cost of 30A.

I don't mind rednecks. Redneck riviera is just a term for the area from Orange Beach to Mexico Beach.
It's still the nicest beaches in the US. The west coast has pretty beaches but the water is cold. The east coast beaches are all rough.
There are some gulf beaches in central Florida that are nice like Anna Maria.

I’m very happy people are still on this trend and squeezing into the entire 30A area, while I continue to enjoy my time each summer on the beach in Miramar with plenty of space, no Karen’s fighting the “beach police”

I love it down there.....but our time there is in the peak heat and the peak traffic times. So, I havent been in a few years. I look forward to spending some fall time there as these kids get older and leave the nest. That seems ideal to me.

Alys beach is where the players go. Water color and Seaside can keep their poors.

That was my reaction too when prices surged - why not fly to the Caribbean and stay at a resort for those price points?

But I guess it's all about "group mentality" in the social media age. When one woman starts boasting and posting her family vacation the other members of the herd want to match them.

I can also see the argument for loading up your own car with stuff you bring from home and driving to your vacation. But that falls into a proximity argument and people here are going to be geographically biased towards a one day drive to Florida versus people residing outside of the Deep South.

30A is great as long as I don't have to be there between Memorial Day and Labor Day. And more specifically, I prefer to be there from March 1 though Memorial Day and Labor Day until November 1.

We usually go in August, it’s hot as hell, but schools back in session so it’s not crowded.

Never once in my life have I ever heard it referred to as "30A" and I have lived in Florida myself and had relatives who have lived in the panhandle for 40 years. None of them ever called it "30A." What kind of trashy slang is that?

I still go to 30a at least once ever other year. Usually with friends who don't have passports or fly.
But want to go to beach.
A lot of people are afraid to go to Mexico or Bahamas.

It's a term for beaches along 30a a state road.
Much like A1A in Miami. (Anyone who knows the words to ice ice baby gets that)

The beaches are nice except when you get sargassam and no place in Florida compares to Isla Mujeres. Plus the food is better.

Yes. Not counting Hawaii or other islands but part of the US. I'm sure the top 20 beaches are all in Hawaii or USVI.

I do like the architecture at Alys Beach.
