Just glad that I got to enjoy places like Grayton and Mexico beach before they became yuppie playgrounds

Again, I have zero idea who you people are hanging out with but I know quite a few people who go to 30A yearly and none of them act like it is anything other than it is, a really nice spot to vacation on the gulf coast for families. Maybe I don’t perceive these comments as bragging, but others would. I guess I also don’t hang around with anyone who put stickers on their cars either

Trust me I do not hang out with the type... It's casual conversation overheard in public/ online message boards, etc.

I never said it was trashy nor would I ever do so. I spent many, many Summers there, have fond memories with family and enjoyed my time. It's a very nice beach.

I personally just don't see it as the pinnacle of beach vacations, and if I did I certainly would not feel the need to be braggadocios by putting the sticker on my car.

To each their own.

30A isn't trashy - it's just busy. The beach in that area is awesome, though.

30A is poorly defined and a long stretch and I have no dog in the fight but I find it interesting how many people call 30A Trashy recently. But I know for a fact Seaside, Water Color, Alys Beach etc in the area have some of the most expensive property rentals...Is it just the poors who can't afford to stay there calling it Trashy to make themselves feel better?

it is anything but trashy. now can places like gulf shores, orange beach, destin, pcb have some trash there...of course but overall 30A, especially places you mentioned and places like santa rosa beach, rosemary etc

yea those are not trashy

like anything on here comes down to your last sentence...poors cant afford it so they call it trashy. and most are just coping by saying....going to the same place every year is not my idea of fun like the families that go to the places mentioned only take 1 vacation a year.

its the same with travel ball threads, people act like nobody can afford travel ball, private school, couple vacations a year because they cant imaging people being able to afford that

its quite comical i might add....just the sheer amount of cope.

I prefer California beaches to Florida beaches personally. If I must do Florida beaches I stay at this one Miami hotel with its own private beach.

I legit laughed at this.

i spent a week in maui and O'ahu including Waikiki beach and Wailea beach, the red sand beach, the black sand beach and bunch of others

the beaches and water along 30A and even orange beach at times is better. not talking things to do, the bad arse resorts in Hawaii, but just the actual beach

also spent a lot of time in the Caribbean and mexico.....water is better down there in spots....but the actual sand and beach itself...hard to beat 30a.

Well I’m usually a 30a defender, but I’m pretty pissed today. The “public” beach access that’s 1/4 mile from our condo leads to a private beach. There are big signs that say 300ft to the left is public beach. Doesn’t even suggest going right for public beach. The private beach area (which looks extensive) is mostly empty. The public beach 300ft to the left? Jam packed.

INB4 “haha POOR.” I guess I am, but it’s still bullshite.

Say it again for those in the back!

It's gotten too easy to spot a rich suburban mom in any big city in the south. Premium SUV with a 30a sticker, head to toe Lululemon and carrying a Stanley.

so upper class white women.....so the hate is jealousy?

because why would you hate on rich suburban mom? apparently either she or her husband or both are doing really well? and why the frick would you not want to be around people like that?

sure as hell beats going some place and hanging with the poor arse locals like so many on here feel is the pinnacle or the whole point of a vacation. i dont go n vacation to act like a poor or to want to be around them. I want to stay at the luxury places and be around other wealthier classier people.

Never once in my life have I ever heard it referred to as "30A"

I hadn’t either until recently. I always called the Alabama beaches Gulf Shores and the Florida panhandle beaches were either Pensacola, Destin, Panama City, Navarre, or Fort Walton.

For the ease of travel in the US, I can agree on that notion.

but 30A compared to the beaches of the world, well we can agree to disagree and that was the basis of my original comment.

much more to see and do in other places but the actual beach itself aka the sand and the water...hard to beat 30a

now people, the trees and other things...yea better in plenty of other places.

especially when you factor in the resorts and things to do in other places...that puts them way over 30a. i was talking strictly the sand and water itself.

30-A is a well-deserved break from the arduous travel ball season.

Then it’s back to work Braxton!

When I go to the beach, I want to stay on the beach. I don’t care for the “fancy restaurants” and other amenities you can ride a bike to. I like cooking in an outdated kitchen and then being able to have a morning drink from the balcony and seeing a calm Gulf of Mexico. Anywhere from Crystal Beach to Miramar or OBA. Give me redneck riviera any day.

It’s just played itself out for me that it’s redundant and lost its appeal in lieu of the mountains, national parks, or places that I’ve never been before in this country, and this country is filthy rich in that department, more so than any other country on earth really.. It’s like listening to the golden oldies for the rest of your life. Hard pass.

If you have multiple posts in this thread defending where you vacation, you’re the douche people are talking about. You care what people think and think 30a is a status symbol

Beach trips without kids is awesome. Beers, books, chair and umbrella and I'm good to go.

I know people who live on 30A. They said its terrible now because all of the beaches are "private" and only a small portion is left for the locals/public.

I'm a fan of the Navarre area. Pretty enough water and a lot less people. 4 hour drive and close to Pensacola.
