Vyvanse is, in general, a much better drug than Adderall in multiple ways. Many people still can’t access it though as there is no generic and the company that holds its patent continues to search for ways to manipulate ways to extend it.

That was the reason I briefly tried Adderall. I was paying over $300/mo for several months to satisfy my deductible before my insurance would kick in, since it isn’t generic. Adderall was bad enough to make me suck it up & pay. It sucks that it isn’t more accessible.

33 year old working professional with three kids. I took Vyvanse for a couple years but it gave me anxiety after a while. Switched to Adzentis, which was fine but I’m now trying a Nootropic called Elevate and its doing the same thing prescriptions did without the unwanted side effects. Good luck.

Indeed. It’s a system that could continue to feed itself in a way. Not to go too much into pharmacology but Vyvanses heavily reduced abuse potential allows for the potential for it, and stimulants with it eventually, to break into areas of medicine they historically weren’t. Like Vyvanse already has for BED. Next will likely be depression, which is a good thing imo. But with each new FDA approved designation the patent extends.

adderall. Best part is if you forget to take it in the morning, you can crush it up and snort it to catch up on the lag between ingestion and activation time

Have two friends (middle age) and they are an absolute blast to be around. We will be heading t0 pick up beer and then all then all the sudden end up at a Reptile pet store - stuff like that all the time.

Get him on ADHD meds (forgot name), my roomate in college used to snort it and went from almost failing out to the honor’s list. But, he became boring unlike my two buddies above who refuse meds.

I wish I could be diagnosed with a mythical disorder and use it as an excuse for the rest of my life.

I had this mindset until I noticed I was seriously struggling compared to “normal” folks with completing anything. Excited to start? Hell yeah. Finishing anything? frick that. I’d get bored 1/4 way in and let it sit.

Is ADD/ADHD over diagnosed? Of course, no one should say otherwise. That being said though, when I do take Adderall I can sleep like a baby within an hour. It calms your brain that much. “Normal” folks get hyped to the extreme.

Tried adderall once during adulthood and absolutely hated it. Felt like a zombie, and once it wore off at the end of the day I was moody and cranky. Now I just deal with it as best I can. Having a job where the potential to do something different every day helps.

This is almost exactly my case. I travel a lot for business and have a dynamic job where I can use it to my advantage but it's no joke. Covid has limited my travel although I've been on 6 flights since it began.

I was diagnosed as an adult and given adderall. I hated the way that shite made me feel. It's a faux fix. It helps for a while but I wanted to rip somebody's head off by about 4oclock and I couldn't sleep worth a shite. Exercise helps greatly. I'm not fat and I dont eat like shite so that helps too.

I'm 63 and self medicated myself with alcohol and drugs for years, until I had a Dr. prescribe Strattera which was a miracle drug for me. Really helped my concentration and my constant changing my mind between alternatives. One downside is hard to obtain an erection, but upside is probable weight loss. Good luck because it's a curse to have ADD or ADHD even though many idiots on this site believe it to be a "made up" malady.

I didn't have much of a problem sleeping while taking adderall. It did make me lose some weight because it killed my appetite, and if I drank more than a few beers while on it, had some erectile problems. I was getting the lowest dose(10mg I think) and breaking it in half - half in the morning and half after lunch- to avoid that afternoon crash when I became an absolute monster.

Keep telling yourself that. I went from having to consciously decide not to spray cherry pie all over the cab of my truck every morning for 10+ years until I got on meds and got stable. I'm on borrowed time and shouldn't be alive. I abstain from taking the addy when I'm not working so that I have windows where I detox a bit. I also weened myself off xanax. I have enough willpower to keep substances in check.

Stay away from the adderall. Its just legal amphetamines. Guy i work with abuses his meds so bad he is too obnoxious to be around and its about to ruin his career and life. Basically it will be the next opiod crisis. I mean the Nazis used it to stay up for 3 days to drive across France during the Blitzkrieg.

I was diagnosed at age 40 with ADD. Ritalin has helped me tremendously with my ability to concentrate.

Psychologist said I’ve always had it but because my grades were pretty good no one really noticed or questioned it.

That's generally how people change their behavior

No decent doctor will keep you on amphetamines forever.

ADHD, especially adult ADHD, is a myth.
